Major Sir Robert Clayton, 2nd Bt. was born in 1746.1 He was the son of John Clayton and Elizabeth Goodwin.1 He married Christophera Baldwin, daughter of Reverend Roger Baldwin, in 1780.1 He died on 10 August 1839 at Adlington Hall, Adlington, Lancashire, EnglandG, without issue.1 His will was proven (by probate) in November 1839.1
He gained the rank of Major in the 17th Regiment of Infantry.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Clayton, of Adlington, co. Lancaster [G.B., 1774] on 29 April 1828.1
On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
