Sir Henry Lindsay Bethune of Kilconquhar, 1st Bt.1,2

     Sir Henry Lindsay Bethune of Kilconquhar, 1st Bt. was born on 12 April 1787.3 He was the son of Major Martin Eccles Lindsay Bethune and Margaret Augusta Tovey.1 He married Coutts Trotter, daughter of John Trotter, on 9 July 1822.3 He died on 19 February 1851 at age 63.3
     He was Commander of the Persian forces against Russia between 1804 and 1819.3 He was with the Honourable East India Company Service.3 He gained the rank of Major in the Court of the Shah of Persia.3 He was appointed Knight in 1832.3 He was Commander of the Persian forces against the rebel Zulli Sultan between 1834 and 1836.3 He was created 1st Baronet Bethune, of Kilconquhar [U.K.] on 7 March 1836.3 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Parbroath [S., 1633] on 14 March 1839, de jure.3 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount of Garnock [S., 1703] on 14 March 1839, de jure.3 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [S., 1703] on 14 March 1839, de jure.3 He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Lindsay [S., 1633] on 14 March 1839, de jure.3 He succeeded as the 18th Lord Lindsay of the Byres [S., 1444] on 14 March 1839, de jure.3

     Coutts Trotter was the daughter of John Trotter.1 She married Sir Henry Lindsay Bethune of Kilconquhar, 1st Bt., son of Major Martin Eccles Lindsay Bethune and Margaret Augusta Tovey, on 9 July 1822.1 She died on 31 December 1877.1
     Her married name became Lindsay.

John Trotter Bethune, 10th Earl of Lindsay1

     John Trotter Bethune, 10th Earl of Lindsay was born on 3 January 1827.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Lindsay Bethune of Kilconquhar, 1st Bt. and Coutts Trotter.1 He married Jeanne Eudoxie Duval, daughter of Jacques Victor Duval, on 18 July 1858.1 He died on 12 May 1894 at age 67, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 19th Lord Lindsay of the Byres [S., 1444] on 19 February 1851.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Bethune, of Kilconquhar [U.K., 1836] on 19 February 1851.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Kilbirny and Drumry [S., 1703] on 19 February 1851.1 He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Lindsay [S., 1633] on 19 February 1851.1 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Parbroath [S., 1633] on 19 February 1851.1 He succeeded as the 9th Viscount of Garnock [S., 1703] on 19 February 1851.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 91st Highlanders.1 On 5 April 1878 his titles were recognised by the House of Lords.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1885 and 1894.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1

     Jeanne Eudoxie Duval was the daughter of Jacques Victor Duval.1 She married John Trotter Bethune, 10th Earl of Lindsay, son of Sir Henry Lindsay Bethune of Kilconquhar, 1st Bt. and Coutts Trotter, on 18 July 1858.1 She died on 24 June 1897.1
     From 18 July 1858, her married name became Bethune.1

     David Ayton-Lindsay of Wormiston was born on 31 December 1798.1 He was the son of Patrick Lindsay.1 He married Jane Emilia Ayton, daughter of John Ayton, in 1824.1 He died on 5 May 1872 at age 73.1
