Lt.-Col. Charles Clitheroe Gore was born on 7 September 1839.1 He was the son of General Hon. Sir Charles Stephen Gore and Sarah Rachel Fraser.1 He married, firstly, Maria Harriet Elizabeth Cator, daughter of Reverend Thomas Cator and Lady Louisa Frances Lumley-Savile, on 27 January 1875.1 He married, secondly, Lavinia FitzRoy, daughter of Francis Charles FitzRoy and Caroline Octavia Pigot, on 24 October 1882.1 He died on 13 August 1926 at age 86.1
He fought in the Indian Mutiny between 1857 and 1859.1 He gained the rank of Lt.-Col. in the Royal Irish Rifles.1 He fought in the First Boer War in 1881.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1914.1
