     John Elphinstone, 4th Lord Balmerinoch was born on 26 December 1652 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was the son of John Elphinstone, 3rd Lord Balmerinoch and Lady Margaret Campbell.² He married, firstly, Lady Christiana Montgomerie, daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 7th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Mary Leslie, on 15 February 1671/72 at Holyrood House, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³ He married, secondly, Anne Rose, daughter of Most Rev. Arthur Rose and Barbara Barclay, on 12 June 1687 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.^1,3 He died on 13 May 1736 at age 83 at Leith, Scotland^G.¹ He was buried on 17 May 1736 at Restalrig, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹
     He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] on 16 August 1687.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Lord Balmerinoch [S., 1606] on 10 June 1704.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Coupar [S., 1607] on 10 June 1704.⁴ He held the office of Sheriff of County Edinburgh in 1710.¹ He held the office of Governor of the Mint in 1710.¹ He held the office of a Representative Peer [Scotland] (Tory) in 1710.¹ He held the office of a Commissioner of the Office of Lord Chamberlain in 1711.¹ He held the office of a Representative Peer [Scotland] (Tory) in 1713.¹

     Lady Eleanor Montgomerie was the daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 7th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Mary Leslie.¹ She married David Dunbar of Baldoon, son of Sir David Dunbar of Baldoon, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth McCulloch, in 1674.¹ She died in September 1687.
     From 1674, her married name became Dunbar.¹

     Lady Anne Montgomerie was the daughter of Hugh Montgomerie, 7th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Mary Leslie.¹ She married Sir Andrew Ramsay of Abbotshall, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Andrew Ramsay, Lord Abbotshall and Janet Craw.¹
     Her married name became Ramsay.¹

     Timothy Francis Gore was born on 22 July 1957.¹ He is the son of Major Humphry Gerard Napier Gore and Leslie Marshall Peabody.¹ He married Amanda S. Kingsley, daughter of P. F. Kingsley, in 1989.¹
     He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)¹ He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He lived Professional Associate, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (A.R.I.C.S.)¹ He lived in 1999 at Longfield House, Seal Hollow Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, England^G.¹

     Lady Mary Montgomerie was the daughter of Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Elizabeth Crichton.¹ A contract for the marriage of Lady Mary Montgomerie and Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw, 4th Bt. was signed on 22 June 1683.¹ She died in April 1742.¹ She was buried at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹
     Her married name became Agnew.

     Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw, 4th Bt. was born before 1660.¹ He was the son of Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 3rd Bt. and Jane Hay.¹ A contract for the marriage of Sir James Agnew of Lochnaw, 4th Bt. and Lady Mary Montgomerie was signed on 22 June 1683.¹ He died on 9 March 1735 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was buried at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹
     He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Galloway between 1702 and 1724, 11th.¹ He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Agnew, of Lochnaw, co. Wigtown [N.S., 1629] in June 1702.¹ In 1708 he sold his Irish estates to his agent, Patrick Agnew.¹

     Amanda S. Kingsley is the daughter of P. F. Kingsley.¹ She married Timothy Francis Gore, son of Major Humphry Gerard Napier Gore and Leslie Marshall Peabody, in 1989.¹
     From 1989, her married name became Gore.¹

     P. F. Kingsley lived at Sussex, England^G.¹

     Edward Charles Theodore Gore was born in 1994.¹ He is the son of Timothy Francis Gore and Amanda S. Kingsley.¹

     Katherine St. Quintin was born circa 1607.^1,2 She was the daughter of Sir William St. Quintin, 1st Bt. and Mary Lacy. She married, secondly, Henry Sandys.³ She married Michael Wentworth, son of Sir George Wentworth and Hon. Anne Fairfax, before 1660.⁴ She married, firstly, Sir John Kaye, 1st Bt., son of Sir John Kaye and Anne Ferne, on 12 February 1660.³ She married, thirdly, Alexander Montgomerie, 8th Earl of Eglinton, son of Hugh Montgomerie, 7th Earl of Eglinton and Lady Mary Leslie, on 6 December 1698.³ She died circa July 1700.³ She was buried on 6 August 1700.¹
     Her married name became Sandys.³ From 12 February 1660, her married name became Kaye.³ From 6 December 1698, her married name became Montgomerie. After her marriage, Katherine St. Quintin was styled as Countess of Eglinton on 6 December 1698.
