David Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford was the son of Alexander Lindsay, 2nd Earl of Crawford and Marjorie Dunbar.2 He married Marjory Ogilvy, daughter of Sir Alexander Ogilvy of Auchterhouse, circa March 1422/23.3 He died on 17 January 1445/46 at Finhaven Castle, Angus, ScotlandG, 'the day twelvemonth since he ravaged St. Andrew's land in Fife'.3
He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Aberdeenshire.4 He was appointed Knight before 17 November 1425.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Aberdeenshire.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] in 1438.2

Marjory Ogilvy was the daughter of Sir Alexander Ogilvy of Auchterhouse.2 She married David Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Crawford, son of Alexander Lindsay, 2nd Earl of Crawford and Marjorie Dunbar, circa March 1422/23.3 She died after 1476.3
From circa March 1422/23, her married name became Lindsay.4 After her marriage, Marjory Ogilvy was styled as Countess of Crawford in 1438.
