William West, 1st Baron Delaware1

     William West, 1st Baron Delaware was born before 1520.2 He was the son of Sir George West and Elizabeth Morton.3 He married, secondly, Anne Swift, daughter of Henry Swift.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Strange, daughter of Thomas Strange, before 1555.2 He died on 30 December 1595 at Wherwell, Hampshire, EnglandG.1
     He was appointed Knight.2 He was 'adopted as heir' by his uncle, Sir Thomas Warre, 9th Lord la Warre.3 On 1 February 1549/50 he was disbarred by Act of Parliament from all honours, for trying to poison his uncle, 9th Lord la Warre.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Army.2 He fought in the Siege of St. Quintin in Picardy in July 1557.2 On 10 April 1563 he was restored in blood.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex in 1569, jointly.2 He was created 1st Baron Delaware [England] on 5 February 1569/70.2

     Sir George West was the son of Sir Thomas West, 8th Lord la Warre and Eleanor Copley.2 He married Elizabeth Morton, daughter of Sir Robert Morton.2 He died in September 1538.2

     Elizabeth Morton is the daughter of Sir Robert Morton.2 She married Sir George West, son of Sir Thomas West, 8th Lord la Warre and Eleanor Copley.2
     Her married name became West.2

     Eleanor Butler was the daughter of Thomas Butler, Viscount Thurles and Elizabeth Poyntz.1 She married Donough MacCarty, 1st Earl of Clancarty, son of Charles MacCarty, 1st Viscount Muskerry and Margaret O'Brien, before 1648.1 She died in 1682.2
     She was also known as Ellen.2 From before 1648, her married name became MacCarty.1 After her marriage, Eleanor Butler was styled as Countess of Clancarty on 27 November 1658.

     Harriet Strover was born on 30 October 1806 at Plymouth, Devon, England.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Strover and Mary (?)1 She was baptised on 4 December 1806.1 She married General Samuel Rogers Strover, son of John Strover and Mary Dudley, on 14 July 1828 at Great Stanmore, London, England.1 She died on 26 September 1877 at age 70 at Great Bedford Street, Bath, Somerset, England.1
