Thackeray, son of Ernest John Thackeray and Rosina Barber, in 1945 at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, EnglandG.1 She died in August 1991 at age 80.1
     From 1945, her married name became Thackeray.1

     Thomas David Gibson-Carmichael, 1st and last Baron Carmichael was born on 18 March 1859 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Rev. Sir William Henry Gibson-Carmichael of Skirling, 10th Bt. and Eleonora Anne Anderson.1 He married Mary Helen Elizabeth Nugent, daughter of Albert Llewellyn Nugent, 3rd Baron Nugent and Elizabeth Baltazzi, on 1 July 1886 at St. Michael's Church, Chester Square, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 16 January 1926 at age 66 at 13 Portman Street, London, EnglandG, without issue.1 He was buried on 21 January 1926 at Skirling, Biggar, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1
     He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1881 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1884 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Private Secretary to the Secretary for Scotland in 1886.1 He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Gibson, of Keirhill, Midlothian [N.S., 1702] on 19 December 1891.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Midlothian between 1895 and 1900.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Peebles-shire in 1905.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1908.1 He held the office of Governor of Victoria between 1908 and 1911.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.) in 1911.1 He held the office of Governor of Madras between 1911 and 1912.1 He held the office of Governor of Bengal between 1912 and 1917.1 He was created 1st Baron Carmichael, of Skirling, co. Peebles [U.K.] on 7 February 1912.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.) in 1917.1
     He "was called, as the first Governor of Bengal, to administer a newly-reconstituted province at a time of supreme difficulty. He was not—and would not have claimed for himself that he was—one of teh great Indian rulers; but he is remembered there with affection for his natural kindness of heart and the versatility of his interest."1 On his death, his Barony became extinct.1

     Rev. Sir William Henry Gibson-Carmichael of Skirling, 10th Bt. was born on 9 October 1827.2 He was the son of Sir Thomas Gibson-Carmichael of Skirling, 7th Bt. and Hon. Anne Napier.3 He was baptised on 28 December 1827 at Kirkurd, Peebles-shire, ScotlandG.4 He married Eleonora Anne Anderson, daughter of David Anderson, on 12 May 1858.2 He died on 19 December 1891 at age 64.1

     Mary Helen Elizabeth Nugent was born circa 1863 at Southsea, Hampshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Albert Llewellyn Nugent, 3rd Baron Nugent and Elizabeth Baltazzi.1 She married Thomas David Gibson-Carmichael, 1st and last Baron Carmichael, son of Rev. Sir William Henry Gibson-Carmichael of Skirling, 10th Bt. and Eleonora Anne Anderson, on 1 July 1886 at St. Michael's Church, Chester Square, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 22 March 1947, without issue.3
     She was appointed Lady of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (L.G.St.J.)1 From 1 July 1886, her married name became Gibson-Carmichael.1 After her marriage, Mary Helen Elizabeth Nugent was styled as Baroness Carmichael on 7 February 1912. She was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Gold Medal.4

Anne Moore.1 He married, firstly, Sydney Kingsmill, daughter of Colonel William Kingsmill and Dorothy St. Leger. He married, secondly, Elizabeth Carey, daughter of Colonel Ferdinand Carey and Philippa Throckmorton.2 He died in 1710.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Horse Guards.1 He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus Castle.1 He lived at Dromisken, County Louth, IrelandG.1
