     General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien was born on 26 May 1858 at Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England^G.^2,3 He was the son of Robert Algernon Smith-Dorrien and Mary Ann Drever.^2,3 He married Olive Crofton Schneider, daughter of John Henry Augustus Schneider and Mary Elizabeth Crofton, on 3 September 1902.³ He died on 12 August 1930 at age 72.⁴
