Sir Benjamin Tichborne, 1st Bt. was born circa 1540.1 He was the son of Nicholas Tichborne and Elizabeth Rythe.2 He married, firstly, unknown daughter Shelley.2 He and Amphyllis Weston obtained a marriage license on 17 May 1571 at Skrynes, Roxwell, Essex, EnglandG.2 He died on 6 September 1629.1
He held the office of Sheriff of Southampton in 1579.2 On the death of Queen Elizabeth I, he repaired immediated to Winchester and as High Sheriff, proclaimed for the accession of King James I. This earned him the Castle of Winchester and a baronetcy.2 He was created 1st Baronet Tichborne, of Titchborne, co. Southampton [England] on 8 March 1620/21.1
