     Sergeant Donald John Atkinson was born on 2 November 1923 at Guisborough, Yorkshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Richard B. Atkinson and Beatrice Maude Marie Borrie.1 He died on 28 August 1943 at age 19, killed in action, in the air near Arras/Amiens.1
     He was educated at Guisborough Grammar School, Guisborough, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, an air gunner and navigator with the Pathfinders.1
