Venerable James Croft was born on 2 July 1784.1 He was the son of Reverend Robert Nicholas Croft and Elizabeth Wanley Bowes.2 He married Charlotte Manners-Sutton, daughter of Most Rev. Charles Manners-Sutton and Mary Thoroton, on 5 October 1812.3 He died on 9 May 1869 at age 84.3
