     Dorothy Vernon was born in 1531.² She was the daughter of Sir George Vernon and Margaret Tailboys.³ She married Sir John Manners, son of Thomas Manners, 1st Earl of Rutland and Eleanor Paston.³ She died on 24 June 1584.¹
     She took Haddon to her husband's family.³ Her married name became Manners.

     Sir George Manners was born circa 1569.² He was the son of Sir John Manners and Dorothy Vernon.^3,4 He married Grace Pierrepont, daughter of Sir Henry Pierrepont and Frances Cavendish, on 1 August 1593.³ He died on 23 April 1623.³
     He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1586.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Nottingham in 1589.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derbyshire in 1593.² He was appointed Knight on 23 April 1603.² He lived at Haddon Hall, Derbyshire, England^G.³

     Grace Pierrepont was the daughter of Sir Henry Pierrepont and Frances Cavendish.² She married Sir George Manners, son of Sir John Manners and Dorothy Vernon, on 1 August 1593.²
     Her married name became Manners.

     John Manners, 8th Earl of Rutland was born on 10 June 1604.² He was the son of Sir George Manners and Grace Pierrepont.² He married Hon. Frances Montagu, daughter of Edward Montagu, 1st Baron Montagu of Boughton and Frances Cotton, in 1628 at Barnwell Castle, Northamptonshire, England^G.³ He died on 29 September 1679 at age 75.²
     He was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.² On 23 April 1623 he succeeded to his father's Haddon estates.² He was admitted to Inner Temple.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derbyshire from February 1625/26 to June 1626.² He held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1632.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derbyshire between April 1640 and May 1640.² He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Rutland [E., 1525] on 29 March 1641.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire in March 1641/42.² He was a Parliamentary Commissioner to treat with the Scots in July 1643, but did not serve due to ill-heath.² He was a Parliamentary Commissioner for the Great Seal in November 1643, but did not serve due to ill-health.² He was Member of the Committee for Excise in 1645.² He was a Parliamentary Commissioner to treat with the Scots in 1645.² He held the office of Chief Justice in Eyre north of Trent between 1646 and 1661.² He was Member of the Committee for Navy and Customs in 1647.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire from February 1666/67 to 1677.²

     Hon. Frances Montagu was baptised on 8 August 1613.² She was the daughter of Edward Montagu, 1st Baron Montagu of Boughton and Frances Cotton.^1,3 She married John Manners, 8th Earl of Rutland, son of Sir George Manners and Grace Pierrepont, in 1628 at Barnwell Castle, Northamptonshire, England^G.⁴ She died on 19 May 1671 at age 57.²
     Her married name became Manners. After her marriage, Hon. Frances Montagu was styled as Countess of Rutland on 29 March 1640.

     Mary Thoroton was the daughter of Thomas Thoroton.¹ She married Most Rev. Charles Manners-Sutton, son of Lord George Manners-Sutton and Diana Chaplin, on 3 April 1778.¹ She died on 10 March 1832.¹
     Her married name became Manners-Sutton.

     Lord George Manners-Sutton was born on 8 March 1723.¹ He was the son of John Manners, 3rd Duke of Rutland and Hon. Bridget Sutton.² He married, firstly, Diana Chaplin, daughter of Thomas Chaplin and Diana Archer, on 5 December 1749.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Peart, daughter of Joshua Peart, on 5 February 1768.¹ He died on 7 January 1783 at age 59.¹
     He was given the name of George Manners at birth.¹ In 1762 his name was legally changed to George Manners-Sutton on inheriting the estates of his grandfather, Robert Sutton, Baron Lexington.¹

     Diana Chaplin was the daughter of Thomas Chaplin and Diana Archer.^1,2 She married Lord George Manners-Sutton, son of John Manners, 3rd Duke of Rutland and Hon. Bridget Sutton, on 5 December 1749.¹ She died on 13 May 1767.¹
     Her married name became Manners-Sutton.

     Mary Peart is the daughter of Joshua Peart.¹ She married Lord George Manners-Sutton, son of John Manners, 3rd Duke of Rutland and Hon. Bridget Sutton, on 5 February 1768.¹
     From 5 February 1768, her married name became Manners-Sutton.

     Lord Robert Manners-Sutton was born in 1722. He was the son of John Manners, 3rd Duke of Rutland and Hon. Bridget Sutton.³ He died in 1772, without issue.³
     He was given the name of Robert Manners at birth.³ Circa 1723 his name was legally changed to Robert Manners-Sutton on inheriting the estates of his grandfather, Lord Lexinton of Aram.³ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 21st Dragoons.³
