     Adeliza de Clermont was born circa 1058 at Northamptonshire, EnglandG.1 She is the daughter of Hugues, Comte de Clermont and Marguerite de Roucy.2 She married, firstly, Gilbert fitz Richard, son of Richard fitz Gilbert and Rohese Giffard, circa 1083.1,2 She married, secondly, Bouchard de Montmorency after 1117.2

Hugues, Comte de Clermont1

     Hugues, Comte de Clermont was born circa 1030 at Clermont, Normandy, FranceG.2 He married Marguerite de Roucy, daughter of Hilduin III, comte de Ramerupt comte de Montdidier et d'Arcis-sur-Aube and Alix de Roucy, Comtesse de Roucy et de Reims, circa 1065 at Picardie, FranceG.2 He died in 1101.2
     He gained the title of Comte de Clermont, in Beauvais.3

     Marguerite de Roucy was born circa 1045 at Montdidier, Normandy, FranceG.2 She was the daughter of Hilduin III, comte de Ramerupt comte de Montdidier et d'Arcis-sur-Aube and Alix de Roucy, Comtesse de Roucy et de Reims.1,3 She married Hugues, Comte de Clermont circa 1065 at Picardie, FranceG.2 She died circa 1110.2
     She was also known as Margaret.4

Richard fitz Gilbert1

     Richard fitz Gilbert was born circa 1024 at Bienfaite, Normandy, FranceG.2 He was the son of Gilbert, Comte de Brionne and Gunnora d'Aunou.2,3 He married Rohese Giffard, daughter of Walter Giffard, Seigneur de Longueville and Agnes Ermentrude Fleitel, circa 1054.4 He died circa 1090.4 He was buried at St. Neots, Huntingdonshire, EnglandG.4
     He was also known as Richard de Clare.4 He gained the title of Lord of Bienfaite [Normandy].4 Richard fitz Gilbert also went by the nick-name of Richard de Bienfaite.4 He gained the title of Lord of Orbec [Normandy].4 Circa 1066 he accompanied William the Conqueror to England.4 He received 176 Lordships, 95 in Suffolk.4 He was created 1st Lord of Clare [feudal baron].5 In 1075 He helped to suppress the revolt.4 He held the office of Joint Chief Justiciar.4 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.6

     Rohese Giffard was born in 1034 at Longueville, Normandy, FranceG.2 She was the daughter of Walter Giffard, Seigneur de Longueville and Agnes Ermentrude Fleitel.2,1 She married Richard fitz Gilbert, son of Gilbert, Comte de Brionne and Gunnora d'Aunou, circa 1054.3
     She was living in 1113.3

Walter Giffard, Seigneur de Longueville1

     Walter Giffard, Seigneur de Longueville was the son of Osbern de Bolebec and Aveline de Crepon.2 He married Agnes Ermentrude Fleitel, daughter of Gerald Fleitel.3 He died before 1085.2
     He held the office of Justiciar of England.2 He gained the title of Seigneur de Longueville [Normandy].1 In 1066 he accompanied William the Conquerer to England.2
     He received grants of 107 Lordships, 48 in Buckinghamshire.2
