     James Hamilton, 1st Viscount Claneboye was born in 1559 at Dunlop, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of Reverend Hans Hamilton and Janet Denham.1,2 He and Penelope Cook were divorced.3 He married, secondly, Penelope Cook.4 He married, thirdly, Jane Philipps, daughter of Sir John Philipps, 1st Bt. and Anne Perrot.5 He married, firstly, Hon. Ursula Brabazon, daughter of Edward Brabazon, 1st Lord Brabazon, Baron of Ardee and Mary Smythe.4 He died on 24 January 1643/44.3 He was buried at Bangor, County Down, IrelandG.4
     In 1587 he went to Ireland with Sir James Fullerton.6 He was a Fellow in 1593 at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.6 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1595 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)6 He was appointed Knight on 14 November 1609 at Royston, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Down between 1613 and 1615.6 He was a Commissioner for the plantation of Longford in 1619.6 He was created 1st Viscount Claneboye, co. James Stevenson Blackwood, 2nd Baron Dufferin and Claneboye1

     James Stevenson Blackwood, 2nd Baron Dufferin and Claneboye was born on 8 July 1755.1 He was the son of Sir John Blackwood, 2nd Bt. and Dorcas Stevenson, Baroness Dufferin and Claneboye.1 He married Hon. Anne Dorothea Foster, daughter of John Foster, 1st Baron Oriel of Ferrard and Margarita Amelia Burgh, Viscountess Ferrard, on 15 November 1801.2 He died on 8 August 1836 at age 81, without issue.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Killyleagh [Ireland] between 1788 and 1800.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Blackwood, of Ballyleidy, co. Down [I., 1763] on 27 February 1799.1 In 1800 he was granted £15,000 compensation for the seat's being disenfranchised on the Union of British and Irish Parliaments, a measure he supported (unlike his father) and as reward his request that his mother be ennobled was granted.2 He held the office of Sheriff of County Down in 1804.2 He held the office of Sheriff of County Down in 1804.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
