Archibald Borthwick1

     Archibald Borthwick was born on 13 May 1732 at Inveresk, East Lothian, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Patrick Borthwick and Marion Scott.1 He married Margaret Nicholson Scott, daughter of James Scott, on 17 April 1777.2 He died on 13 July 1815 at age 83.1 He was buried at Greyfriars Cemetery, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.
     He succeeded as the 16th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 6 October 1772, although he never used his title.1 He was a merchant at Christiansund, NorwayG.1 In 1807 he presented a petition to claim his title.1

Margaret Nicholson Scott1

     Margaret Nicholson Scott was the daughter of James Scott.1 She married Archibald Borthwick, son of Patrick Borthwick and Marion Scott, on 17 April 1777.1 She died on 8 December 1833.1
     From 17 April 1777, her married name became Borthwick.1

     Patrick Borthwick was born on 12 September 1779.1 He was the son of Archibald Borthwick and Margaret Nicholson Scott.1 He married Ariana Corbet, daughter of Cunninghame Corbet, on 13 November 1804 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He died on 12 April 1840 at age 60.1 He was buried on 16 April 1840 at Greyfriars, ScotlandG.1
     He was a manager at the National Bank of Scotland at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He succeeded as the 17th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 13 July 1815, although he never used his title.1 On 8 April 1816 he claimed his peerage.1

     Ariana Corbet was the daughter of Cunninghame Corbet.1 She married Patrick Borthwick, son of Archibald Borthwick and Margaret Nicholson Scott, on 13 November 1804 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 She died on 30 December 1836.1
     From 13 November 1804, her married name became Borthwick.1

     Archibald Borthwick was born on 31 August 1811.1 He was the son of Patrick Borthwick and Ariana Corbet.1 He married Mary Louisa Home, daughter of John Home Home, on 1 August 1840.1 He died on 3 July 1863 at age 51, without surviving male issue.1
     He succeeded as the 18th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 12 April 1840, although he never used his title.1

     Cunninghame Borthwick, 19th Lord Borthwick was born on 6 June 1813.1 He was the son of Patrick Borthwick and Ariana Corbet.1 He was baptised on 17 June 1813 at East Leith, ScotlandG.1 He married Harriet Alice Day, daughter of Thomas Hermitage Day, on 18 July 1865.1 He died on 24 December 1885 at age 72 at Ravenstone Castle, Wigtownshire, ScotlandG.1
     He was educated at Edinburgh High School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was a member of the London Stock Exchange from 1853 to 1877.1 He succeeded as the 19th Lord Borthwick [S., 1452] on 3 July 1863.1 In 1870 he purchased the estate of Ravenstone, Wigtonshire.1 On 5 May 1870 his claim to the peerage was allowed.1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) on 25 May 1871.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1880 and 1885.1
