     Brigadier Sir Walter de Stopham Barttelot, 4th Bt. was born on 27 October 1904.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Walter Balfour Barttelot, 3rd Bt. and Gladys St. Aubyn Angove.2 He married Sara Patricia Ravenscroft, daughter of Lt.-Col. Herbert Valentine Ravenscroft and Helen Maclean, on 7 May 1938.1 He died on 16 August 1944 at age 39 at Caumont, Normandy, FranceG, killed in action.1
     He was educated in 1917 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG, Public School.3 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Barttelot, of Stopham, Sussex [U.K., 1875] on 23 October 1918.1 He was educated in 1922 at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel.1 He gained the rank of Acting Brigadier.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1944.1 He was commander of the 6th Guards Tank Brigade.1

Sir Walter Balfour Barttelot, 3rd Bt. and Gladys St. Aubyn Angove, on 7 May 1938.1 She married, secondly, Commander James Nigel Walter Barttelot, son of Lt.-Cdr. Nigel Kenneth Walter Barttelot and Dorothy Maud Kay, on 28 May 1965.1 She married Commander James Nigel Walter Barttelot, son of Lt.-Cdr. Nigel Kenneth Walter Barttelot and Dorothy Maud Kay, on 28 May 1965 at Savoy Chapel, London, EnglandG.4 She died on 14 January 1998 at age 83 at Chichester, Sussex, EnglandG.5,2 She was buried on 23 January 1998 at St. Mary's Church, Stopham, Sussex, EnglandG.2,3
     Sara Patricia Ravenscroft usually went by her middle name of Patricia.5 From 7 May 1938, her married name became Barttelot.1 She was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.) in 1965.1
