     Vittorio Emanuele II di Savoia-Carignano, Re di Sardegna was born on 14 March 1820 at Turin, ItalyG.4 He was the son of Carlo Alberto di Savoia-Carignano, Re di Sardegna and Maria Theresia Erzherzogin von Österreich.5 He married, firstly, Adelheid Franziska Erzherzogin von Österreich, daughter of Rainer Joseph Johann Erzherzog von Österreich and Maria Elisabeth di Savoia-Carignano, Principessa di Carignano, on 12 April 1842 at Stupinigi, ItalyG.4 He married, secondly, Rosa Teresa Vercellana, Contessa di Mirafiori, daughter of John Vercellana, in 1869 in a morganatic marriage.6 He died on 9 January 1878 at age 57 at Rome, ItalyG.4
     He gained the title of Re Vittorio Emanuele II di Sardegna in 1849.6 He gained the title of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy in 1861.6
