     Gavin Hamilton was born circa 1440.1,2 He was the son of Sir James Hamilton, 5th of Cadzow.1 He married Jean Muirhead.3 He died before May 1493.4
     He held the office of Provost of the Collegiate Church of Bothwell.1

     Elizabeth Hamilton was born between 1442 and 1443. She was the daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton and Lady Eupheme Graham.1 She married, firstly, David Lindsay, 1st Duke of Montrose, son of Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford and Margaret Dunbar, in 1459.1 She and David Lindsay, 1st Duke of Montrose were divorced before 1484.1 She married, secondly, John Forrester after 1485.1 She and John Forrester were divorced before 1508.1 She died after March 1517.1
     After her marriage, Elizabeth Hamilton was styled as Countess of Crawford in 1459. From 1459, her married name became Lindsay.1 Her last will was dated 11 March 1516/17.2

David Lindsay, 1st Duke of Montrose1

     David Lindsay, 1st Duke of Montrose was born in 1440.2 He was the son of Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford and Margaret Dunbar.3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton and Lady Eupheme Graham, in 1459.1 He and Elizabeth Hamilton were divorced before 1484.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Carmichael before 27 September 1484.4 He died on 25 December 1495 at Finhaven Castle, Angus, ScotlandG.4 He was buried at Dundee, Angus, ScotlandG.4
     He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] in September 1453.3 He held the office of Sheriff of Forfarshire in October 1466.3 He held the office of Keeper of Berwick between 1473 and 1476.3 On 9 March 1472/73 he was granted the Lordships of Brechin and Navar for life.3 He held the office of High Admiral of Scotland in May 1476.3 He held the office of Master of the Household in 1480.5 He held the office of Great Lord Chamberlain [Scotland] before 1483.5 He held the office of Joint High Justiciary of the North in 1487.5 He was created 1st Duke of Montrose [Scotland] on 18 May 1488.5 He fought in the Battle of Sauchieburn on 9 June 1488, where he distinguished himself on the side of King James III.6 On 17 October 1488 his Dukedom was forfeited by the Rescissory Act.6 On 19 September 1489 he was granted a new patent for the Dukedom of Montrose. However, the Rescissory Act itself was rescinded in March 1503/4, so it has been argued that the first creation is in effect the correct one.6 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in February 1489/90.5

     Elizabeth Hamilton was born illegitimately between 1491 and 1528.2 She was the daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran.1 A contract for the marriage of Elizabeth Hamilton and Robert Sempill, Master of Sempill was signed on 27 May 1543.1
     From before 27 May 1543, her married name became Sempill.

     Robert Sempill, Master of Sempill was the son of Robert Sempill, 3rd Lord Sempill and Isabel Hamilton.1 He married by contract, firstly, Elizabeth Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran, on 27 May 1543.2 He married, secondly, Barbara Preston, daughter of Archibald Preston, 2nd of Valleyfield and Giles Sempill, before 30 April 1569.3 He died before 16 December 1569.3
     He supported Mary, Queen of Scots.4 He was styled as Master of Sempill in 1552.2

     Lady Barbara Hamilton is the daughter of James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran and Lady Margaret Douglas.1 She married, firstly, Alexander Gordon, Lord Gordon, son of George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly and Elizabeth Keith, circa 1546.2 She married, secondly, James Fleming, 4th Lord Fleming, son of Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming and Janet Stewart, before 23 December 1553.2
     From circa 1546, her married name became Gordon. From before 23 December 1553, her married name became Fleming.

     Alexander Gordon, Lord Gordon was the son of George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly and Elizabeth Keith.2 He married Lady Barbara Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran and Lady Margaret Douglas, circa 1546.1 He died between 18 September 1552 and 11 August 1553 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, without issue.1
     He was styled as Lord Gordon in 1524.2
