Sir John Every, 4th Bt. was born circa 1654.2 He was the son of Sir Henry Every, 2nd Bt. and Vere Herbert.3 He married, secondly, Dorothy Meynell, daughter of Godfrey Meynell.4 He married, firstly, Hon. Martha Thompson, daughter of John Thompson, 1st Baron Haversham and Lady Frances Annesley, on 28 April 1704 at Knightsbridge Chapel, Knightsbridge, London, EnglandG.2 He died on 1 July 1729, without surviving issue.4
He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.4 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Every, of Egginton, co. Derby [E., 1641] on 1 September 1709.4
