     David Spencer Shell was born on 21 November 1954.¹ He is the son of Surgn.-Cdr. Geoffrey Norman Shell and Joan Elizabeth Spencer.¹ He married Clare Clofts on 16 May 1998.²
     He was educated at Milton Abbey School, England^G.¹ He lived in 1999 at 11 Lumsdale Terrace, Lumsdale, Matlock, Derbyshire, England^G.¹

     Captain Henry Montagu Spencer was born on 13 November 1851.¹ He was the son of Rev. Hon. Charles Frederic Octavius Spencer and Hester Eliza Fardell.¹ He married Ethel Louisa Beresford, daughter of General Marcus Beresford and Caroline Fane, on 7 September 1880.¹ He died on 26 October 1924 at age 72.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Battalion, Gloustershire Regiment.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Worcestershire.¹

     Ethel Louisa Beresford was born in 1856 at India.² She was the daughter of General Marcus Beresford and Caroline Fane.^3,1 She married Captain Henry Montagu Spencer, son of Rev. Hon. Charles Frederic Octavius Spencer and Hester Eliza Fardell, on 7 September 1880.¹ She died on 5 November 1925.¹
     From 7 September 1880, her married name became Spencer.

     General Marcus Beresford was born on 28 July 1800 at Cork, County Cork, Ireland.^2,3 He was the son of Rev. Hon. George Beresford and Susan Gorges.² He married, firstly, Isabella Sewell, daughter of Thomas Bermingham Daly Henry Sewell and Hon. Harriet Beresford, in October 1828.² He married, secondly, Caroline Fane, daughter of William Fane and Louisa Hay Dashwood, on 22 January 1838 at Calcutta, Bengal, India.^4,5 He died on 22 March 1876 at age 75.²
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 20th Foot.² He was Commandant of the Bangalore.²

     Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer was born on 5 July 1881.¹ He was the son of Captain Henry Montagu Spencer and Ethel Louisa Beresford.¹ He married Dorothy Acter Ferrer, daughter of Reverend Frederick Ferrer, on 14 January 1908.¹ He died on 3 September 1918 at age 37, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Boer War in 1900.¹ He graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the West Somerset Yeomanry.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Tank Corps.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹

     Dorothy Acter Ferrer was the daughter of Reverend Frederick Ferrer.¹ She married Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer, son of Captain Henry Montagu Spencer and Ethel Louisa Beresford, on 14 January 1908.¹ She died on 17 November 1950.¹
     From 14 January 1908, her married name became Spencer.

     F/O. Denis Henry Spencer was born on 29 August 1913.¹ He was the son of Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer and Dorothy Acter Ferrer.¹ He died on 18 July 1936 at age 22, killed as a result of a flying accident.¹
     He gained the rank of Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force.¹

     Audrey Joan Spencer was born on 3 September 1911.¹ She is the daughter of Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer and Dorothy Acter Ferrer.¹ She married Major John Alexander Sneyd Hawkins, son of John Sneyd Hawkins, on 19 December 1939.¹
     From 19 December 1939, her married name became Hawkins.

     Major John Alexander Sneyd Hawkins is the son of John Sneyd Hawkins.¹ He married Audrey Joan Spencer, daughter of Lieutenant Henry Beresford Spencer and Dorothy Acter Ferrer, on 19 December 1939.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹
