Erlend, Jarl of Orkney was born before 1056. He was the son of Thorfinn II, 1st Earl of Caithness and Ingibiorg Finnsdottir.1 He married Thora Sumarlididottir, daughter of Somerled Uspaksson.1 He died in 1099.1
He gained the title of Jarl of Orkney.2 He gained the title of 2nd Earl of Caithness [S., 1030] circa 1056, jointly.2 In 1066 on the expedition to England, and were allowed to leave by King Harold Godwinson after the Stamford Bridge.3
