Robert Spencer, 4th Earl of Sunderland was born on 24 October 1701.1 He was the son of Charles Spencer, 3rd Earl of Sunderland and Lady Anne Churchill.1 He died on 15 September 1729 at age 27 at Paris, FranceG, from a fever.1 He was also reported to have died on 27 November 1729. He was buried on 7 October 1729 at Brington, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) in 1729 and 1732.1
He was styled as Lord Spencer between 1702 and 1722.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Spencer of Wormleighton [E., 1603] on 19 April 1722. He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Sunderland [E., 1643] on 19 April 1722.1 He held the office of Lord Carver at the coronation of King George II on 11 October 1727.1

Elizabeth Spencer was born on 16 February 1617/18.2 She was the daughter of William Spencer, 2nd Baron Spencer of Wormleighton and Lady Penelope Wriothesley.1 She was baptised on 3 March 1617/18 at Brington, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.2 She married, firstly, John Craven, 1st and last Baron Craven of Ryton, son of Sir William Craven and Elizabeth Whitmore, on 4 December 1634 at Brington, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.1 She married, secondly, Hon. Henry Howard, son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Berkshire and Lady Elizabeth Cecil, circa 7 July 1648.2 She married, thirdly, William Crofts, 1st and last Baron Crofts of Saxham, son of Sir Henry Crofts, after 1663.2 She died on 11 August 1672 at age 54.2 She was buried on 18 August 1672 at Saxham, Suffolk, EnglandG.2
