El Boquerón National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional El Boquerón, is located on top of the San Salvador Volcano at 5,905 feet (1800 meters) the park's main attraction is a crater five kilometers in diameter and 558 meters deep. La principal atracción del parque es un cráter volcánico de 1,5 kilómetros de diámetro y 558 metros de profundidad, "El Boquerón". Se estima que se creó tras una fuerte erupción en 1917, que destruyó parte de algunos municipios, como San Salvador, Nejapa o Quezaltepeque.​ En el Playón, a las afueras de San Salvador, se pueden ver restos de la lava que expulsó. En el interior del cráter hay otro de menor tamaño, "Boqueroncito". El Boquerón tiene un clima fresco templado durante todo el año. El parque es el hogar de muchas especies de plantas identificadas como plantas ornamentales, tales como "cartuchos", hortensias, sultanas silvestres y begonias, entre otras.
