Set up iCloud for third-party apps on all your devices
You can use iCloud with third-party apps on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac. For an overview of what you can do with iCloud, see Keep third-party app data up to date on all your Apple devices with iCloud.
Note: Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID on each device. If you have devices where you are not signed in with your Apple ID or that have the app’s iCloud feature turned off, your app data will not be kept up to date on those devices.
Set up iCloud for third-party apps on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name].
Do one of the following:
iOS 16, iPadOS 16, or later: Tap iCloud, then tap Show All.
iOS 15, iPadOS 15 or earlier: Tap iCloud.
Scroll down, then turn on the app. For some apps, you need to turn on iCloud Drive before you can turn on the app.
Some third-party apps give you access to the data they store in iCloud Drive. If so, you see a folder with the app’s name in iCloud Drive in the Files app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
For more information on how to use the Files app, see any of the following:
iPhone User Guide: Modify files, folders and downloads in Files on iPhone
iPad User Guide: Modify files, folders and downloads in Files on iPad
iPod touch User Guide (iOS 15 or earlier): View and modify files and folders in Files on iPod touch
Set up iCloud for third-party apps on your Mac
On your Mac, do one of the following:
macOS 13.3 or later: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click [your name] at the top of the sidebar, click iCloud, click iCloud Drive, then turn on Sync this Mac. Click Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive, then turn on the app.
macOS 13 to 13.2: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click [your name] at the top of the sidebar, click iCloud, click iCloud Drive, then click Turn On. Click the Options button, then select the app.
macOS 12 or earlier: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Apple ID, click iCloud, then select iCloud Drive. Click the Options button, then select the app.
Some third-party apps give you access to the data they store in iCloud Drive. If so, you see a folder with the app’s name in iCloud Drive on your Mac. For more information on how to use iCloud Drive, see Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive in the macOS User Guide.
