A walk of a few blocks from the Yale SOM campus takes you past the much-loved food carts that pull up along the streets every weekday or one of the city's highly regarded restaurants, the boutiques along Chapel Street or a neighborhood market in East Rock, a top-notch regional theater or the busy nightclub district.

Museums: The Yale Art Gallery, the Yale Center for British Art, and the Peabody Museum of Natural History, a children's favorite where Rudolph F. Zallinger’s famous mural The Age of Reptiles adorns the Great Hall, are all on the Yale campus.
Restaurants: New Haven is a culinary center with dozens of well-regarded restaurants, including the famed pizzerias of Wooster Square; fine dining establishments; and creative takes on Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, and other cuisines.
Outdoor Recreation: You'll have easy access to parks and other outdoor facilities, including East Rock and West Rock Parks, which provide hiking and spectacular views a few minutes from campus; Yale's acclaimed golf course; the Farmington Canal Linear Park, a former canal and rail bed converted to an 84-mile biking and walking trail from New Haven to Northampton, Massachusetts; and Lighthouse Point Park and Carousel, a picnic and swimming spot on Long Island Sound.
Beyond New Haven: Just a short train or car ride away from New Haven, you can explore shoreline beaches or visit the beautiful Connecticut countryside. Go camping at Hammonasset State Park in Madison and enjoy the park’s beach areas and nature preserve. Visit Guilford's historic Town Green or shop popular outlet malls in nearby Clinton. In Branford, take a cruise around the Thimble Islands.
