I am Professor of Labor Economics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Senior Research Advisor in the Department of Structural Change and Productivity at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH).
At IWH, I am the Head of the Research Group "Education, Skills, and the Labor Market."
I am also ifo Research Professor, CESifo Research Fellow, IZA Research Fellow, ROA Research Fellow, and Visting Fellow at Hoover Institution, Stanford University.
My main research interests are labor, education, and behavioral economics. Lately, much of my work has been dealing with inequalities in the education system and the future of the labor market. I am also engaged in policy consultancy work for the European Commission, government authorities, and several foundations in Germany.
