Request

[change source]

Hello. Could you please respond on my request for permissions and Asteralee's request? I know from experience that these requests can take a very long time to receive a response (my previous one took 2 weeks), so I am asking you as the most recently active administrator. Thank you. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 08:20, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BZPN, thank you for the message, but requests for permissions are often left for some time to allow time for other admins to comment on requests, or better evaluate editing activity. I will review the requests when I have more time, likely in a few days time. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 21:40, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Wikipedia mainspace

[change source]

Helloǃ Am I able to move a humor article in my user main space to Wikipediaː main space? Thanksǃ Aster🪻 talk edits 12:30, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Asteralee, I'd probably say it's safer to keep the page in userspace. There's no policy on it or anything like that, but we have very few Wikipedia: pages that are humour (transclusions), so it's probably easier to keep it in User:space. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 21:45, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[change source]

Hello. I would like to ask you to check my latest articles (Dalmatic, Zucchetto and Stole) for style - is it simple enough? I try to simplify the articles as much as possible according to the guidelines. Thank you and best regards, BZPN (talk) 18:34, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

BZPN, hi! Sorry about the slight delay in response, I have been really busy with work over the past few days. They are generally quite simple, but just a couple of pieces of advice:
  • For words, it's good to compare them against BE 1500, the extended Basic English wordlist, to check whether the word is simple enough. Try to simplify it to these words where you can, but if you can't, make sure to link it, either here on simplewiki, or you can use a Wiktionary link if there is a page for it on that project. You should check the links here first, then only use Wiktionary if it's unlikely to get an article here, especially if it's a verb or something.
  • Otherwise, with sentences, you should use active over passive form, for example "Ferien is making a comment" instead of "A comment is being made by Ferien", as it's a lot easier to understand.
    • In a similar fashion, with Dalmatic, it's probably better for you to say "In the 20th century, the simple, long white dalmatic was/became used again." rather than "returned to use."
I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any more questions :) Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 11:49, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[change source]

Hello. I have one more question, unrelated to the content itself. My question is about interface admin permissions - where can I request them? There is a situation where I would like to block (MediaWiki:BlockedExternalDomains.json) pages that are blogs and used as sources in (I have recently deleted several of them), which is obviously against the rules and misleads readers. There are currently no interface administrators, regular administrators are often unavailable and do not have the appropriate permissions, and I have the appropriate knowledge to edit .json files (which are not difficult to edit) and sufficient knowledge of the Wiki mechanism to do it myself and not break anything :). The Wikipedia:Interface administrators page does not provide specific requirements when it comes to temporarily granting permissions, so I am asking you whether it is possible for me to obtain these permissions to do my tasks. And I'm sorry to bother you with questions, but I don't really have anyone else to turn to :). Have a nice day! BZPN (talk) 09:49, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I'm mainly thinking about sources such as miraheze.org, instagram.com, blogspot.com, quora.com (!) - they would be included on the list only after being removed from the articles and replaced with the {{citation needed}} (if necessary). BZPN (talk) 10:38, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have created a list of domains that should be blocked here: User:BZPN/BlockedDomains.json. I didn't realize that the problem with sources is so tragic - I found, for example, Fandom and quizlet as a historical sources, description from Instagram post in the content or even Reddit post as a source [sic!]. BZPN (talk) 17:26, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BZPN, regarding interface administrator rights, they are usually granted when needed, and then removed once the task is done, hence why there are no interface admins on our wiki currently. I have granted them a few times to myself in the past, and could fulfil this task if you'd like. You can request interface admin rights on WP:AN, however despite the lack of mention of admin rights in policy, I don't think non-admins should be granted the IA right. It was detached from administrator a while back due to the potential risks of all administrators having it and the damage that the role can cause, and the enwiki policy on it says only existing admins can request it. I will start a discussion soon to determine whether we should have this written in policy, as it can cause confusion otherwise. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 12:02, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferien, thank you very much for your help, you helped me a lot. In our case, in plwiki and on several other wikis, non-administrators can also obtain IA permissions to perform their tasks independently of administrators - I thought it was the same on simplewiki. I will report domains for blocking on AN after they are removed from articles. For now, I will focus on removing pseudo-sources and improving my articles. Thank you again for your detailed tips and help. I wish you all the best :). BZPN (talk) 12:11, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Placenta cake is a dish from ancient Greece and Rome consisting of many dough layers interspersed with a mixture of cheese and honey and flavored with bay leaves, baked and then covered in honey. The dessert is mentioned in classical texts such as the Greek poems of Archestratos and Antiphanes, as well as the De agri cultura of Cato the Elder. It is often seen as the predecessor of baklava and börek.

Trisomy 16 is a chromosomal abnormality in which there are 3 copies of chromosome 16 rather than two. It is the most common trisomy leading to miscarriage and the second most common chromosomal cause of it, closely following X-chromosome monosomy. About 6% of miscarriages have trisomy 16.

Hi, would you mind having a look at this article? Two unidentified IP addresses have been making a series of weird, ahistorical and poorly sourced edits in turn. One of the IP addresses has been warned several times not to do so but continuing. I am not sure if two IP addresses are associated with the same person or troll farm. Steven1991 (talk) 16:50, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Steven1991, apologies for the late response. Fehufanga has blocked one of the IPs, and the other one appears to have stopped for now. If you have any more administrative requests, please add them to WP:AN as it'll likely get responded to sooner. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 23:00, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ferien From past 1 month i am observing there are many People making paid pages on simple wikipedia. People who are not having any news article and having 2-3 paid article also getting live here. And Scammers are using fake references as well with fake references. And a user @Symonds Gerother is involved in it because today i inserted qd in 5-10 non notable pages and he revereted all the changes and removed qd. So he is also involved in the group of people who are making paid pages of non notable people so deleted all the pages on which i have inserted qd and which has been remove by @Symonds Gerother and Block this user. Hello. Please don't go to multiple admins to try and alert them. Just head to WP:AN and you will get a response from active administrators. This situation has already been resolved. --Ferien (talk) 23:02, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Title blacklisting needed?

[change source]

Hello, do you think Special:Diff/9898754 should be title blacklisted? I look forward to hearing from you. MathXplore (talk) 06:33, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MathXplore, yes, looks good to me. For future requests relating to title blacklist or any other admin actions, please go to AN at the first instance as I don't anticipate being active here for the time being, to get back to you within a reasonable timeframe. --Ferien (talk) 21:01, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It looks like you may have made a slight formatting error on MediaWiki:Titleblacklist - there should be a space before the added new point. This means that this page will not work properly. It's not a big problem, but I would appreciate it if you correct it :). Thank you and best wishes, BZPN (talk) 21:10, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Done, thanks! --Ferien (talk) 21:14, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's still not correct - you need to move # from the first line one space forward :). Thank you! BZPN (talk) 21:16, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Storm Filomena was an extratropical cyclone in early January 2021 that was most notable for bringing unusually heavy snowfall to parts of Spain, with Madrid recording its heaviest snowfall in over a century, and with Portugal being hit less severely. The eighth named storm of the 2020–21 European windstorm season, Filomena formed over the Atlantic Ocean close to the Canary Islands on 7 January, subsequently taking a slow track north-eastwards towards the Iberian Peninsula and then eastwards across the Mediterranean Sea.

Syrian literature is modern fiction written or orally performed in Arabic by writers from Syria since the independence of the Syrian Arab Republic in 1946. It is part of the historically and geographically wider Arabic literature. The modern states of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel as well as the Palestinian autonomous areas only came into being in the mid-20th century. Therefore, Syrian literature has since been referred to by literary scholarship as the national literature of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as the works created in Arabic by Syrian writers in the diaspora. This literature has been influenced by the country's political history, the literature of other Arabic-speaking countries and, especially in its early days, by French literature.
