Asbury Park is a city in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It is next to the Atlantic Ocean on the Jersey Shore. Asbury Park is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. In the 2020 United States Census, the city population was 15,188.[9]
Asbury Park started as a borough on March 26, 1874. It included parts of Ocean Township. Asbury Park became a city as of March 25, 1897.[18]
The city is known for music. Bruce Springsteen comes from the city and started his career there. The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium called Asbury Park the sixth best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest.[19]
