This template creates an external link for a given binary asteroid (having a minor-planet moon) to the corresponding object page at Johnston's Archive. Helpful summary pages for reference:

• binaries by type and presumed level of confirmation,
• binaries by date reported,
• binaries by dynamical class/by designation,
• and list of refuted/unconfirmed binaries.

• {{JA-BIN|01862}} produces BIN to the binary asteroid 1862 Apollo (note: zero padding to 5 digits for smaller numbers)
• {{JA-BIN|2017ye5|prov}} produces BIN to the binary asteroid 2017 YE5 (note: 2nd param value "prov" for unnumbered binaries)
