A cotyledon (/kɒtˈldən/; "seed leaf" frae Greek: κοτυληδών kotylēdōn, gen.: κοτυληδόνος kotylēdonos, frae κοτύλη kotýlē "cup, bowl") is a signeeficant pairt o the embryo athin the seed o a plant.
