eedit

When it wis formit durin the French Revolution, as o 4 Mairch 1790 in fulfillment o the law o 22 Dizember 1789, the new depairtment combined pairts o the provinces o soothren Burgundy an Bresse, unitin launds that haed nae previous common history nor poleetical unity an which hae nae true geographical unity. Thus its history is that o Burgundy, an is especially tae be foond in the local histories o Autun, Mâcon, Chalon-sur-Saône, Charolles an Louhans.
