note
debis AirFinance was founded by Daimler-Benz Interservices and four European banks. Its first acquisition was a fleet of Fokker aircraft. In November 2000, debis acquired AerFi Group. In March 2005 it was acquired by US firm Cerberus Capital which changed the name to AerCap. In 2006 AerCap in a joint venture with LoadAir (Kuwait cargo start-up) formed leasing company Aerventure, which ordered 70 Airbus A320s. With the collapse of the cargo market in 2008, LoadAir never got off the ground, and the Aerventure partnership ended in April 2009, with AerCap assuming the aircraft leases. In March 2010, it acquired lessor Genesis Lease. In May 2014 AerCap acquired ILFC from AIG. In February 2016, the company relocated its headquarters from Amsterdam to Dublin. In November 2021 it acquired aircraft lessor GECAS
