In the Spring of 2017 over 500 students participated in 12 courses at the Hashemite University. Recently the university announced it's continued support for Wikipedia education activities at their campus including financial backing for a Wikipedia Club. read more...

The University of Edinburgh are looking to support the development of a data-literate workforce over the next ten years to support Scotland's growing digital economy. This therefore represents a huge opportunity for educators, researchers and data scientists to support students in this aim. The first Wikidata in the Classroom assignment at the university is taking place this semester on the Data Science for Design MSc course and two groups of students are working on a project to import the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft database into Wikidata to see what possibilities surfacing this data as structured linked open data can achieve. read more...


Basque Wikimedians User Group's Education Program has a clear focus: developing better content for secondary school (High School, K12) pupils with the help of university students and teachers. This goal harbours a big challenge inside, defining what is important for 12-16 year-old schoolchildren and measuring the quality of these topics. We started with the government's Curriculum Decree, and now we are trying to develop a more concise summary of topics so that we can reach a good understanding of schoolchildren's needs. read more...


Two Presentation had been presented on Wikipedia Education Program in Bangladesh & Taiwan in International Conference On Education & E-learning (ICEEL2017) which was helded 2-4 November in Bangkok,Thailand.About 45 participants joined in the Conference and 13 participants joined this session under Category CAI and Online Education Assessment. Where Huang had presented 20 minutes and me 10 minutes about Wiki Education Project in Taiwan & Bangladesh. read more...

Wikimedia Serbia, Unitas Foundation, Red Cross Serbia and University Library “Svetozar Marković” organized workshop on European Day Against Trafficking in Human Beings, which was held on October 18th. read more...


The WikiChallenge African Schools is a writing contest held in primary schools in several African countries (Mali, Tunisia, Madagascar, and Guinea). The contest takes place during October and November 2017 with primary school children adding Vikidia articles using the WikiFundi software. read more...

In the News


New publication examining student perception of editing Wikipedia in class in Australian higher education. Surveys were combined with focus groups and case studies.
