Flexible silicon optical splitters based on high order modes

Abstract

Based on the natural splitting in the intensity distribution of high order modes, and using three mode order converters, we demonstrate 0.5/0.5, 0.667/0.333 and 0.75/0.25 Y junction power splitters with high fabrication tolerance.
