Janie Tippett has lived in Wallowa County in northeastern Oregon for more than fifty years. She has been a ranch wife, camp cook, photojournalist, 4-H leader, CowBelle, and amateur historian. In 2010 Janie published Four Lines a Day about homesteader Mary Marks in the Imnaha canyon country.
From 1984 to 2015, Janie wrote a column for the Agri-Times NW, a regional newspaper, and in 2021 she collected her thirty-one years of columns into the six volumes of Janie's Journal.
