Logo discussions & votes

  • Logo (current logos, guidelines, localisation)

Welcome to the process for finding a new logo for Wikibooks!

Phase 1 of the logo contest has been finished (archive); we have our two finalists! The finalists were determined by taking the logo group with the most votes and eliminating all logo groups which didn't have more than half of that amount. I arranged the various designs from the winning logo groups by similarity; if you disagree with my classification, please say so on the talk page.

In phase 2, which lasted from 22 September until 30 September, there was an opportunity to refine the existing designs and propose new ones which had to be based on the basic design of the finalist logos.

Phase 3 (1 October until 15 October) determined which logo was deemed the best of its group of similar logos.

In phase 4, which lasts from 16 October until 31 October, you can now determine the winning logo! Vote for ONE logo only. Please note that if the winning logo should happen to use Wikimedia colours or have blue as its most prominent colour, those colours will have to be changed afterwards to something which is okay with the Wikimedia Marketing Department.

If you have any questions, suggestions or complaints, please contact me on this page's or my own talk page. Thanks for participating!

  13. Support Support I find it a bit harder to see a book in this variant, probably because the blue band underneath is too dark. B3, which didn't make the cut for Round 4, would be an easy way to distance this logo from the Wikimedia colors, and the lighter band below helps the book stand out as a book. As far as I can tell on my monitor, the main color used in B3 is a tint of the green used in the Wikimedia color scheme, so it shouldn't be a problem. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 03:25, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, the logo will simply undergo refinement after the vote is over -- as did ALL logos up to now. Remember the ugly multicolour puzzle ball that the Wikipedia logo originally was? —Nightstallion (?) 10:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  24. I prefer the existing logo, but since change is inevitable I vote this logo since it represents Wikibooks better with the book icon (for obvious reasons) than the circle thing in logo A which really has nothing to do with books. Anthony cfc 17:30, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
