Requests for usurpation or deleting global accounts

Joy

[edit]
Status:    Not done

I just happened to notice that de:Spezial:Beiträge/Joy includes my edits, even though my account hasn't been globalized. I never underwent the account unification procedure because of that Bangladeshi user that turns out to be a bot - per http://toolserver.org/~vvv/sulutil.php?user=Joy But if this kind of moving of edits around is legitimate and is going to happen in the future, I wish to be safe from those other owners of Joy accounts having my work attributed to them, or even vice versa - it only seems fair. Please advise. TIA. --Joy 11:30, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User Joy from dewiki is the same like the Joy on hrwiki IMO. Or can you log in on dewiki? The problem is that Joy from hrwiki has unified his account. No he hasn´t, but he is using this account on dewiki. --WizardOfOz talk 11:37, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. It is because those edits where imported from another project: example. — Dferg 09:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, there's not much you can do. You could request usurpation of Joy@dewiki, but that would only solve the problem for one specific project. Though it probably is one of the few projects that actually imports pages. In any case, this bug is known as bugzilla:8537 and has been closed as WONTFIX by Brion. In his comment he stating that it is "[p]retty much a non-issue, and will go away entirely shortly." Seeing as we don't necessarily have full SUL conflict resolution, as in your case, that means that these mis-attributions will continue to happen. As stewards we can't do anything about that. --Erwin 17:14, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, is this a good place to instead request usurpation of all Joy accounts on all wikis? Other than the Bangladeshi bot, there's like fifty of them now and it's only going to get worse. I was just approached via e-mail regarding a similar issue between "wikisource" and "en.wikisource" accounts - they also differ. --Joy 10:38, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
fwiw, wikisource and en.wikisource edits are by this 'Joy', and the holder of the en.ws 'Joy' account is fine for it to be usurped. John Vandenberg 10:45, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SlimVirgin

[edit]
Status:    Not done

Hi, I'm an editor on the English Wikipedia, looking for help so that I can complete my unified log-in. Someone has set up SlimVirgin accounts on five other wikis. I've tried at various points over the years to have these removed by admins/bureaucrats on these wikis, but I either got no response or didn't understand the response. Is this something a steward can help with? When I try to unify my log-in, I get a message saying these accounts are preventing it:

  • hr.wikipedia.org [1]
  • it.wikipedia.org [2]
  • no.wikipedia.org [3]
  • pl.wikipedia.org [4]
  • zh.wikipedia.org [5]

SlimVirgin (talk) 01:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I didn't mean I didn't understand the language. I just didn't understand what they were advising. :) SlimVirgin (talk) 23:20, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've managed to get another two three four usurped, so maybe I'll be able to manage the others after all. SlimVirgin (talk) 21:26, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I closed this one. --Erwin 17:15, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just noting that I managed to get the final one usurped today. SlimVirgin (talk) 00:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

William S. Saturn

[edit]
Status:    Done

I have accounts as William S. Saturn on Wikipedia, Commons, WikiNews and German Wikipedia as seen here. It says I have a global account, but I cannot see where. I would like to globally unify these accounts, but when asked for the password, I am told it is wrong, however I know it is correct and have made sure many times over. Could someone help me unify these accounts? I don't know what I need to do. Thank you.--William Saturn 21:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your global account wasn't attached to any local accounts. Therefore, I deleted the global account so you can re-create it from Wikipedia and attach the above mentioned ones. --Erwin 17:17, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I need to usurp the following account in order to finish my unified login:

The account was registered on that site in 2006, but has no user contributions. The only two Bureaucrats listed for the site are both inactive (most recent edits are from December 2009). --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 05:11, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Barek. I have sent an email to the local bureaucrat Derbeth because of a notice on his talk page. If we get no reply in ~1 week we will usurp that account. Regards, --dferg ☎ talk 08:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ישראל קרול, you do not need deleting global account to rename account in single project - software can rename account when is a part of SUL. PS. We can delete global account if you want stop autocreation of account "ישראל קרול" on another projects. LeinaD (t) 23:26, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Status:    Done

Hello. I have requested the following accounts be usurped in March 2010, but the editors here declined this, stating that I need to contact local bureaucrats. I have then contacted bureaucrats from the de and az wikipedias, but have not received any responses. I wish to usurp the following accounts:

Thank you. Rehman(+) 02:19, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The both users you've contacted are inactive or retired. For dewiki is better if you ask here and for azwiki you can contact the other bureaucrat on his talk page. We are sorry but we are not allowed to rename users in wikis with active bureaucrats. Thanks, --dferg ☎ talk 08:32, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I completely understand. Thank you. Rehman(+) 10:13, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like he also ignored a message from Kylu. Rehman(+) 00:34, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

bli

[edit]
Status:    There are English-fluent bureaucrats on all three projects.

Hello. I have 2 problems: The first problem is that I have an account on the english wikipedia and one here, on meta.wikimedia.org.

When I try to proceed to the login unification, It says that my "home wiki" is on the german wikipedia and asks for my password there. But I do not own this account, so I cannot continue the procedure. How is the "home wiki" defined? What should I do?

Well, it seems to work if I try the procedure starting from my account on the english wikipedia instead of my account on meta.wikimedia.org. I leave this in case this helps someone else.

Here are the accounts with my username that I do not own:

None of them seems to be used, as far as I can see. (well; my accounts are not much used either, for the moment)

The other problem is that I would like to create an account on the french wikipedia, but It says that my username is too similar to another account's name that already exists.

Here is a list of your accounts (or ones that share the same name as yours). According to this, EN-Wiki is your home wiki, and you already have a FR-Wiki account (created a week ago).
Your home wiki is always determined by which Wiki has the most edits, although any flags (such as Admin, Bureaucrat, Reviewer, etc.) always override this rule.
I am not a bureacrat, however thought I would comment. The ES-Wiki and JA-Wiki were created back in March 2006 and have 0 edits on both; and the DE-Wiki also has 0 edits, yet the creation date is unknown. So you should have no problem getting the accounts merged, jsut wait patiently for the bureacrats to check up here. AGiorgio08 19:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PS. Try going to these sites and requesting, from your IP Address, usurpation by the bureaucrats of the local Wikis. Here is DE-Wiki, ES-Wiki and JA-Wiki. Doing this might make the whole process a lot faster. AGiorgio08 19:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not done All these projects have local bureaucrats and are quite active. We stewards will not be able to perform the renames for you, I'm sorry, but we're willing to try to help if you get stuck. Keep in mind, though, that we can't force them to perform the renames. Kylu 01:20, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PopMusicBuff

[edit]
Status:    Not done

I want to delete my old global account "PopMusicBuff" as I currently have a new account, "AGiorgio08". I have posted confirmation on both my old meta talk page and my new meta talk page. Here is my SUL for PopMusicBuff.

I have transferred all relavent information to this current account, and wish to abandon all edits on Wikis which have not been renamed.

(Also, just a quick question? Is it possible to delete certain Wikis on my current account? Such as RU, CS, PL, etc. that I never use? If so, I will provide a list of the ones I wish to have delete.)

Thank you very much for your time.

AGiorgio08 20:20, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not a valid reason to delete the global account. If you're not going to use the old account anymore, just log in with the new one and stop editing under the old. If you go to a project where it shows you logged in under your old username, log out and log back in under the new one. We don't delete global accounts simply because someone doesn't want to use it anymore, sorry. Now, if you want, you can log in under the PopMusicBuff account and post a request here that you're wanting it locked, and we can do that instead. Kylu 22:15, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please see en:Wikipedia:Changing_username/Usurpations#Velela → Velella

[edit]
Status:    Not done

I am w:en:User:Fridae'sDoom on enwiki and I would like to usurp the following account on mlwikisource. Thanks Fridae'sDoom 22:13, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you yet tried contacting the local bureaucrats? Kylu 02:24, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't speak the language, I'm just activating my account on all possible projects to prevent identity theft. Fridae'sDoom 04:05, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the contribs for both of the local bureaucrats cross-wiki, it seems they both read and write English just fine. I notice that the account on mlwikisource was created in the same batch as a number of your other accounts, that is, at the same date and time as the surrounding ones. I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's actually your account. Try doing a forgotten password request for it, first. Kylu 04:26, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know which button to press :S for that. Fridae'sDoom 04:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
New password sent. For reference, on a wiki where you don't know the language, just go to the search bar and type "special:userlogin" ... when the page loads, click "English" and you should be able to manage it from there. Kylu 04:40, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Fridae'sDoom 04:54, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see the password in the email :S Fridae'sDoom 05:05, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We don't have access to the password recovery emails, but it should be the very last word on the third line of the email. If that doesn't work, you'll just have to contact a bureaucrat on that wiki for the usurpation after all. Given, however, that you got the email in the first place, at least you don't have to worry about identity theft, since you clearly own the account... Also, marking the section as "not done" since we not only can't do the usurpation (since they've got local bureaucrats) but don't need to (since it's an account you already "own"). You know how to do the password recovery yourself now, anyway. :) Kylu 05:16, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks :) Fridae'sDoom 05:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
