Kurt Martin, then director of the Bavarian Staatsgemäldesammlung (State Paintings Collections), warns of the dangers of selling the art publicly. He fears that “the looted art will be once again a topic of international politics” and that “art pieces will have to be returned or compensation paid”. In the meantime there seems to be no problem with the return of looted art to Nazi families. (English)
