*004217 <~Xkeeper> I am disappoint.
*004221 <&BMF54123>
*004223 <&BMF54123> Why?
*004259 <~Xkeeper> Just because I was hoping to have more than just buried graphics, but w/e
*004303 <~Xkeeper> whatever floats the boat, champ
*004318 <&BMF54123> Do you at least see where I'm coming from witht hat post?
*004327 <~Xkeeper> I guess, but it just feels kind of dumb
*004336 <~Xkeeper> There's already rampant speculation as it is
*004341 <~Xkeeper> "Unused graphics, who knows where this was used"
*004354 <~Xkeeper> "Here's a sword, but why is it there? MYSTERY GUESSING START!"
*004356 <&BMF54123> sigh.
*004414 <&BMF54123> Like I said, create a new section for that stuff. What's so hard about that?
*004427 <&BMF54123> I just want to keep the real ROM data separate from the old preview shots and videos.
*004433 <~Xkeeper> Depends on what you mean by "section".
*004513 <@Drag> I think I can see what's going on
*004513 <@Drag> If there's unused graphics for a powerup in the rom
*004513 <@Drag> and then later, there's a magazine screenshot or something, showing the powerup
*004526 <@Drag> whereas, in the normal game, the powerup doesn't exist anywhere
*004530 <~Xkeeper> Drag: Maybe, but it just .. seems stupid
*004536 <~Xkeeper> to have a clearly different, perfect screenshot
*004539 <&BMF54123> Forget it. Never mind.
*004541 <~Xkeeper> omitted just because there's no trace of it in the final game
*004547 <~Xkeeper> which makes absolutely zero sense
*004550 <@Drag> I think the screenshot would work in the section
*004551 <@Drag> like, with the unused graphics
*004556 <@Drag> because it's like
*004600 <~Xkeeper> "Cut levels"
*004613 <~Xkeeper> "These images from a magazine show some possible other levels that were cut before the final release."
*004622 <~Xkeeper> maybe just a guideline that says "Cut the speculation to only what is obvious"
*004625 <@Drag> [CHR DUMP] "<-- there are unused graphics for a thing that was supposed to be here -->" [magazine shot]
*004750 <~Xkeeper> BMF: I'm not trying to be a dick, it just seems kind of silly.
*004809 <~Xkeeper> I'm aiming to be as inclusionist as possible
*004819 <~Xkeeper> Especially because, you never know
*004827 <&BMF54123> I mainly don't want a repeat of the Dust Hill Zone fiasco. That crap irritates the hell out of me.
*004827 <@Drag> Oh yeah
*004827 <@Drag> Definitely
*004827 <@Drag> If there's information that is only speculation
*004827 <&BMF54123> You've got five billion different viewpoints on what kind of level it was and even how it fit into the storyline (!!!), but no real proof.
*004827 <@Drag> then that deserves its own distinct section on the page
*004827 <&BMF54123> And in the end, it turned out to be an official hoax, of sorts.
*004827 <@Drag> or at least
*004827 <@Drag> it needs to be clearly indicated as only speculation
*004827 <&hydrapheetz> "I WANT TO BELIEVE"
*004844 <~Xkeeper> *004827 <&BMF54123> And in the end, it turned out to be an official hoax, of sorts.
*004847 <~Xkeeper> Mock-up, not hoax.
*004856 <~Xkeeper> but I digress, trying to even converse with this kind of network lag is fucking impossible
*004903 <~Xkeeper> *004827 <&BMF54123> I mainly don't want a repeat of the Dust Hill Zone fiasco. That crap irritates the hell out of me.
*004908 <~Xkeeper> *004622 <~Xkeeper> maybe just a guideline that says "Cut the speculation to only what is obvious"
*004928 <~Xkeeper> I have no idea when that was ever actually sent/recieved so for all I know I look like an asshole

Well, as long as we're putting this in here, how about the part that didn't go through?

004908> <BMF54123> So I guess if we want to have a separate subsection for games labeled "prerelease materials" or something, that's fine.
004930> <BMF54123> Just keep it separate from the real data that's actually been uncovered.
004933> <Drag> Kinda like how there's a separate sub-page for hacking notes?
004947> <Drag> Notes:DuckTales
004949> <Drag> or whatever it is
004951> <BMF54123> Something like that.

I think there should be ok to add the stuff as normal as long as it WAS in the game at some point during development. (As opposed to simply planned to be, though maybe that one could be interesting)

Otherwise we may as well take out all content found only in debug/beta ROMs, becouse it's exactly that. Except we don't have the beta it was in.

Just make it clear: "this screenshot shows some things that were completely removed from the final version."

And yeah massive lag is great fun isn't it?

[Xkeeper PING reply]: 7mins 30secs
It got as bad as 15 minutes later.

The "anti-speculation" thing is kind of funny as a few articles already go "This might've been used in ______" with no real evidence other than nearby tiles.

I think we should just take it in stride. See how they fit in. Consider that stuff like the back of the SMB3 box would fall into this category (you know, the changed levels and screenshots).
