Introduction

About Us

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad is the first and only institute in India to impart the post graduation specialization course in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) that was started in 2007. We are a highly specialized group of faculty and students dedicated to research in computer technology in support of its human facets for enhancing life quality in society. The study targets, understands and creates computer technology that works cohesively with human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in Information Technology.

About HCI

HCI is also sometimes referred to as Man Machine Interaction (MMI) or Computer Human Interaction (CHI). Basic goal of HCI is to improve the interactions between users and computers by making computers more usable and receptive to the users' needs. Because HCI studies a human and a machine in conjunction, it draws from supporting knowledge on both the machine and the human side.

HCI is concerned with the joint performance of tasks by humans and machines. It hones up Human capabilities to use machines (including the learnability of interfaces), algorithms and programming of the interface itself.

Engineering concerns that arise in designing and building interfaces are the process of specification, design, and implementation of interfaces and design trade-offs. Human-Computer Interaction thus has science, engineering, and design aspects.

The means by which humans interact with computers continues to evolve rapidly. A new approach must be put together with other driving forces that are changing and shaping the future so that its concepts are not quickly out of date. It is the need of present to develop interactive interaction technologies for future. Lets come together to grow HCI in shaping the future.

Full investigation and knowledge aquisition is aimed in regard to capture, process and using all possible intricacies of all type of signals, speech, images, videos and languages to be handled by computers the way humans do.
