What to do when receiving the error "Maximum number of devices is connected"?#

When scanning the QR code, the error "Maximum number of devices is connected" occurs, even though the limit of 4 possible linked devices has not been reached in the application.

Solution options:

1. Update the WhatsApp application to the latest version. Make sure that you have the latest version of the WhatsApp application installed on all your devices.

2. Restart your phone.

3. Unlink all linked devices and link again.

   To unlink the device:

   • Open the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business application on your mobile phone, go to the linked devices and sign out.

     Android. Click > Linked devices > tap on the session from the sessions list > Log out.
     iPhone. Go to Settings > Linked devices > tap on the session from the sessions list > Log out.

   To link the device:

   • After unlinking all devices, rescan the QR code to link your device with WhatsApp. Intruction for setting up device linking is available in our documentation.
