editThe word is documented in local Medieval Latin as trobano, whence also its cognate Asturian truébanu. From a substrate language, probably from Celtic, from Proto-Indo-European *treb- (“settlement”) and akin to Proto-Celtic *trebno- (“room, house”).[1]
