klevas
Lithuanian
editEtymology
editCognate with Latvian kļava (“maple”). Outside of Baltic, likely related to Proto-Slavic *klȅnъ (“id”) (< *kle-nos), Proto-Germanic *hluniz (“id”) (whence Old Norse hlynr (“id”)); if inherited rather than borrowed, then the Baltic form traces back to a Proto-Indo-European *kle-wos.[1]
