Livonian tuo’ž?

edit

I noticed you added this as a descendant of Lua error in Module:parameters at line 376: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.. I can't figure out what the apostrophe is supposed to mean, it's not detailed on w:Livonian language and none of our Livonian lemmas have it. Can you elaborate? —Rua (mew) 16:21, 10 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm not really sure myself either, but at least SSA uses it for Livonian and so does Estonian and Livonian online dictionaries. Also e.g. Kallio in his "Historical phonology from Proto-Finnic to Proto-Livonian". If it's wrong to use it here, I'm ready to remove them! - Maas555 (talk) 15:48, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
The issue is that I have no idea what it even means, and what to use instead. Just removing it might not be correct. Do those sources say anything about the Livonian orthography they use? —Rua (mew) 14:15, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I looked into it, and the apostrophe is used for stød in Livonian. Just google "Livonian stød" for more info - Maas555 (talk) 15:45, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I see. I looked into it more and it seems that the stød mark is used in linguistic sources but not in the regular orthography. However, it seems significant enough to include it in the display form of links. It can then be automatically stripped out in the page name, to match the written form. What do you think? —Rua (mew) 15:53, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree, that's probably the best way to do it. - Maas555 (talk) 16:35, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much!

Thank you for the work you've done with Proto-Finnic reconstructions and etymologies. It's really helpful! —Rua (mew) 18:30, 3 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

changes to Template:desc

edit

Hi. Just FYI, {{desc}} has changed a bit; please use |t= in place of |4= (the gloss/definition), and |alt= in place of |3= (the display/alternative form). This is because the template will soon support multiple terms. Thanks! Benwing2 (talk) 03:02, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
