@RagingPichu I think the more typical understanding of these քյ կյ գյ sounds is that they're patalized kʰʲ kʲ ɡʲ. Thoughts? Hovsepig (talk) 06:52, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

in atjarrian, he describes them as քմային and not քմացուած or similar. to my ear they sound essentially the same as greek κι etc., which are usually described as [c] in literature RagingPichu (talk) 07:43, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@RagingPichu do you got an audio file example? And you’re write about that terminology difference, though unfortunately that would require that adjarian’s understanding of possible phonemes matched modern terminology :/ Hovsepig (talk) 07:45, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
sorry, i don't; this comes from listening to my relatives, some of whom speak artsakh dialect RagingPichu (talk) 07:58, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@RagingPichu oh well that's wonderful. i had some other armenian linguists and me just converged on using kʰʲ as a null hypothesis. it's pretty impossible to find any systematic data or phonetic discussion on armenian dialects. if you ever feel like working on artsakh armenian, let me know because it would fun to keep track. Adjarian 1901 page 18 on karabakh says գյ is yodicized g, implying it’s g^j
