Etymology

edit

From în + viu or more likely a variant of via, from Latin vīvere, present active infinitive of vīvō (with a change in conjugation from the older form învie). A less likely origin is Vulgar Latin root *invīvāre or *invīvere. Compare Aromanian anyedz, anyeari.
