This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Wikiproject list

edit

Hi! Just wondering if it is possible to create a list (for clean-up purposes) of articles that are tagged as a stub by wikiproject, but don't have a stub template at the bottom of the article? In such cases either wikiproject assessment is outdated, or a proper stub template missing. Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:01, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Pelmeen10: Regardless the answer of Estopedist1, IMO it is easy to write a wikimedia javascript for the job by a person skilled in this. I guess, the best place to ask is WP:PUMPTECH. - Altenmann >talk 20:36, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Altenmann@Pelmeen10: excellent idea. Unfortunately I couldn't do it via Petscan, but it is easy to do with AutoWikiBrowser. However, it takes a bit time :) I am adding this necessary wikijob to my to-do-list Estopedist1 (talk) 12:45, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
So i posted a question there. Some hints were given. Pelmeen10 (talk) 13:56, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I did some testing and editing.

  1. I removed stub-templates when the article is actually in start-class or in better class
  2. When the article is assesssed as a stub (at article's talk page), then there are massive missing stub-templates at the concrete article. Because of the massiveness (I am estimating that out of 11k stub articles about 4000 has this problem), I guess that there is little time wasting to look and to add stub templates to these stub articles one-by-one--Estopedist1 (talk) 05:42, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Current situation. Pinging @Pelmeen10: I checked all articles in Category:Stub-Class Estonia articles. Now, every article in this category has a stub template. However, at least three categories to be better diffused:

  1. some articles have only umbrella template: {{Estonia-stub}}
  2. some articles have only umbrella template: {{Estonia-bio-stub}}
  3. some articles have only umbrella template: {{Estonia-sport-stub}}

Recommendations: I suggest to delete several or even many too specific templates for Estonian stuff, e.g. we have many very specific sport-bio templates, e.g. {{Estonia-modern-pentathlon-bio-stub}}--Estopedist1 (talk) 16:03, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm against the deletion. I rather have them seperate and I made an effort to change bio stub templates to those specific ones. Modern pentathlon is the least used, but so what. Only question I have, is yachtracing same as sailing? Not sure why isn't the stub templates built on sailing rather than a specific sailing term. Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:12, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon

edit

Hello WikiProject Estonia:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
