Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RMTR)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
editUncontroversial technical requests
edit- José Antonio de Arana → José Arana (currently a redirect back to José Antonio de Arana) (move · discuss) – COMMONNAME is "José Arana", only page on English Wiki with this name Ortizesp (talk) 20:02, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- List of attacks on the United States → Attacks on the United States (currently a redirect back to List of attacks on the United States) (move · discuss) – Requested name has only ever been a redirect and this was moved from draftspace minutes ago to the current name only because "Attacks on the United States" was a mainspace redirect already. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 15:29, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- History of organizational changes in the NHL → Timeline of the National Hockey League (currently a redirect instead to History of the National Hockey League) (move · discuss) – Every single 'timeline' page for each of the major North American leagues have been named as such, so a page move to Timeline of the National Hockey League, which right now redirects to the timeline graph (in the history article), would make this article consistent with other pages. Example: Timeline of Major League Baseball Soccer Tees (talk) 17:19, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

edit- Tulu Nadu → Tulunad (currently a redirect back to Tulu Nadu) (move · discuss) – correct name and most commonly used name മംഗലാപുരം (talk) 18:44, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Likely not uncontroversial. Please cite sources. 162 etc. (talk) 04:32, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Kolej DPAH Abdillah → Kolej Abdillah (currently a redirect back to Kolej DPAH Abdillah) (move · discuss) – per WP:COMMONNAME, an article title is a natural-language word or expression, with that being said, it's correct to move the article to Kolej Abdillah, as no one is calling the subject name with the acronym (DPAH), it is commonly referred to as Kolej Abdillah by the locals here, See 36.85.110.227 (talk) 14:07, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- The present title was chosen in an RM just a few weeks ago, so not uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 19:26, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Mesa Grande → Sce:dagĭ Mu:val Va’aki (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – the name of this site was officially changed in November 2024. See their website: https://www.arizonamuseumofnaturalhistory.org/plan-a-visit/sce-dagi-mu-val-va-aki and this article: https://www.mesanow.org/news/public/article/3408 199.101.34.66 (talk) 17:16, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- The article appears to be about the name change, with regard to WP:NAMECHANGE, we look for coverage about the organisation that uses the new name. Bobby Cohn (talk) 19:42, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Consensus decision-making → Consensus (decision-making) (currently a redirect back to Consensus decision-making) (move · discuss) – Look up google number of results: "consensus decision-making" About 257,000 results VS "consensus" "decision-making" -"consensus decision-making" About 127,000,000 results ModernDaySlavery (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ModernDaySlavery This is a WP:NATURAL disambiguation, which is generally preferred over WP:PARENTHETICAL and should thus probably remain as it is right now (or subject to a full RM discussion). It also looks like you tried to unilaterally move this a few days ago and it was reverted. Raladic (talk) 00:12, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Face (sociological concept) → Face (social concept) (currently a redirect back to Face (sociological concept)) (move · discuss) – Better description since its also heavily used in social psychology and cultural psychology aside from sociology ModernDaySlavery (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ModernDaySlavery Not inherently uncontentious, so RMTR isn't the right place. Suggest a full WP:RM to seek other editors input for consensus. In fact it appears you tried to move these pages yourself a few days ago and it was reverted] due to the potentially contentious nature of an undiscussed move. Raladic (talk) 00:15, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Luxembourg (Belgium) → Belgian Luxembourg (currently a redirect back to Luxembourg (Belgium)) (move · discuss) – natural disambig Mach61 04:33, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Mach61 Based on the history of prior RMs at the title, it seems potentially contentious, as well as guidelines at WP:PLACEDAB mentioning that larger subdivisions or historical regions usually use parenthetical disambiguation. Recommend full RM. Raladic (talk) 04:48, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Priyanka Gandhi → Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (currently a redirect back to Priyanka Gandhi) (move · discuss) – Almost all reliable news sources in India and abroad - and her own social media profiles use the name Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She also uses it in her campaign material. Using her maiden name does not make sense for consistency in the article aswell. Rushtheeditor (talk) 23:56, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- There was a move discussion concerning the titles five years ago, in addition, there are some sources which refer to the former title and other to the latter title, so the common name is disputed. ToadetteEdit (talk) 06:18, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- But the source herself prefers to be called Gandhi Vadra. This is evident in all of her campaign materials. Her name discussion years ago is void as she wasn't in active politics then - and now will be a much more prominent figure as an MP. Her common name according to herself should be used to respect her decision. Rushtheeditor (talk) 23:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

- Snooze (SZA song) → Snooze (song) (currently a redirect instead to Snooze) (move · discuss) – Snooze (Agust D song) is non-notable. The disambiguation is unnecessary where a hatnote will suffice. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 23:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- If the song is non-notable like you claim, then nominate it for deletion (though the song likely meets the notability guidelines for WP:NSONG). Otherwise there's really no reason to only partially disambiguate two "Snooze" songs; if we need to disambiguate then we might as well go the whole way. RachelTensions (talk) 01:59, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Neonoen → NeonoeN (currently a redirect back to Neonoen) (move · discuss) – The band stylize their name in this way Sekundenlang (talk) 15:58, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Stylizations are generally not used on Wikipedia. MOS:TMRULES I'd suggesting editing the lead sentence to indicate "(stylized as NeonoeN)" as a suitable alternative (MOS:TMSTYLE) RachelTensions (talk) 18:24, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
