editUser:Llorezca (Swede Hanson's daughter)
Hi, I did make changes to this article because all the facts aren't correct. His middle name wasn't even spelled right. It is Fort, not Ford. I am his daughter, Luana Hanson Lorezca. I think it's great that I can look up my dad and read such wonderful things about him, however, when I see something that is not right, of course I want the truth out there. I do not know how all of this works, as far as who all has a hand in this information. In addition to my dad's name, the amount of children and grandchildren were not correct. Also, my dad did not go into the hospital because of pneumonia, I had to have him admitted because of his dementia, and the whole ordeal was very painful to me. I was the one who took care of him, by taking him to doctors and finding out the source to his health issues. I was not sure about how to add any citations to what I have changed and added, being that my source is me. I am his daughter, and I know the truth. If you ever want to collaborate or have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I do want to say, that I appreciate everything you wrote, I just wanted to clear up the errors. Thank You! You can also find me on Facebook, which can make it easier to commute, if you want to talk. I hope I did not offend you, I just wanted the truth out there about my father. Ted DiBiase GT
editHey Gary. I was scrolling through WT:PW today (ignoring the usual dramafests), and I saw your question about a GT for Ted DiBiase. It's an interesting idea - all of my GTs so far have been tag teams or stables, which obviously have pretty clearly defined articles that need to be included. I would suggest asking at Wikipedia talk:Featured topic questions what articles would need to be included. At lot of the people who frequent that page will be involved at WP:FTC in supporting/opposing/whatever, so they may be able to help. Something that came to my mind actually was his family - children and father. I doubt they'd be needed, but I thought I'd mention them.
Btw, how's Jerry Lawler going? Are you still planning on getting it up to GA standard? ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 01:09, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

GOCE drive invitation
editGreetings from the Guild of Copy Editors
The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". |

edit Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 backlog elimination drive update
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.
So far, 45 people have signed up for the drive, of which 30 are actively participating, a very high participation rate. If you have not signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. If you have questions about getting started, feel free to talk to us.
Progress has been less than that needed to meet our target for the drive (which would reduce the backlog by about 400 articles). Remember though, if everyone copy edits one or two articles every day, we will easily meet our goal. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. Reducing the number of articles on this list has been a major success of this drive. Thanks for participating! Your drive coordinators – Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02 and SMasters |

GOCE drive report
edit Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 backlog elimination drive report
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating! Here is your end-of-drive report.
50 people signed up for the drive, of which 39 participated. Thanks to all who copy edited articles and helped us reduce the backlogs in both the total articles and requests. We offered a bonus for copy edits from the Requests page, and have been somewhat successful in reducing that backlog, as a record 89 new requests were received in the month of July.
During the month of July we reduced the backlog by 338 articles, or by about 8.5%. We did not reach our goal of a 10% reduction, but we came close, and did very well considering the small size of the group participating. Since our Backlog elimination drives began in May 2010, we have reduced the backlog by 4,708 articles. End-of-drive results can be found here. We will be handing out barnstars within the next week or two.
Please remember that the GOCE Requests page is receiving a high number of requests, with the number of August requests already above three per day. Any assistance to help keep the backlog down would be greatly appreciated. Our next drive will be in September. We hope to see you there! Your drive coordinators – Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02 and SMasters |

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their September 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy editing backlog. The drive will begin on September 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on September 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". edit Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 backlog elimination drive report
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We would like to thank all who participated in this drive. Here is the end-of-drive report.
There were 58 editors who signed-up for this drive, of which 42 participated. This is a slight increase from the July 2011 drive participation, where 39 out of 50 people that signed up participated. Thank you to everyone!
During the drive, we reduced the backlog by 146 articles, or by about 4%. Overall we did well, especially considering the exceptionally large number of articles that were tagged during September. Thus far we have reduced the copy edit backlog by 4854 articles, or by about 58%. If we keep up our current rate of copy editing, the backlog should be reduced by 65–70% by the end of this year. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here. Barnstars will be handed out this week. Once again, thank you for participating in the Guild's September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Our next drive will be in November, and we hope to see you there! DYK question
editHello again. I recently submitted Death & Destruction and Count Grog and I was hoping to nominate either of these to DYK. I'd really like to use the following hook for the latter, ("...that Pro Wrestling Illustrated has called manager Count Grog the "least employee friendly boss around" due to frequently double-crossing his own wrestlers?"), but the only online source I can find is his official website. Is this good enough or do I need a third-party source?
I'm pretty sure I saw it in a past PWI magazine but I can't seem to find the issue in question. His website says it was in 1999 and this post indicates it was "in the late 1990's in the intro story to the [PWI] 500". I checked the PWI 500 issues between 1996 and 1999 but no luck. I suppose its a long shot but I don't suppose you or other members of the wrestling wikiproject might be able to help out?
Replaceable fair use File:Moneyinc.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Moneyinc.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please remove the tag.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mabdul 11:03, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Count Grog
editIt me again. :) I don't mean to keep bothering you but I'm having some problems on DYK with the Count Grog nomination. Apparently there is a BLP issue with the nomination. I provided a direct quote from the PWI article in addition to two online links (the ones I posted earlier on your talk page) confirming the hook. I think its pretty clear that he "betrayed" his wrestlers in a kayfabe sense (it is professional wrestling afterall!) but the sources don't "explicitly" say so according to the editor who removed it as a hook. Am I wrong in thinking that the hook could just be rewritten to be a more neutral statement? Thanks. 72.74.208.228 (talk) 02:36, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Sports Entertainment article 'plagairism'
editHello! I followed the AfD discussion for the Sports Entertainment page, and noticed that someone had cited a source from a supposed PhD, yet the text was taken VERBATIM from what I had written in the Sports Entertainment article approximately four years ago. (Then noticed that it had been taken to this page as a serious concern.)
Upon Googling the book in question myself, I am convinced that this "Doctor" has compiled the text of several Wikipedia articles, turning them almost wholesale into individual chapters of his book. I believe that searching for any chunk of his text will bear this out. Also, I would like to point out that the supposed author of this text does not cite any sources anywhere in this book, which is not something a legitimate academic would produce.
Further, it is not published by any academic institution, but rather a vague, generic "SPORTS PUBLICATION" (see the title page). I would surmise, but have no proof, that this has been created by someone (not an actual academic) in New Delhi as a print-on-demand piece solely to cash in on ignorant individuals who would buy a print verison. I doubt the book's author has any connection to any of the "Dr. Anurag Saxena"s listed on LinkedIn. In short, I'm sure it's a fraudulent publication.
But as the text in question was largely published to Wikipedia by me, I will leave it for other editors, such as yourself, to decide.
Thank you. TravelingCat (talk) 18:31, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Added note: This edit includes the paragraph in question; dated March 11, 2008. The digital book states a copyright of 2011. TravelingCat (talk) 18:37, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
edit Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 14:57, 9 June 2013 (UTC) |
Hi there. I wanted to drop you a note to see if you'd be interested in joining the Guild of Copy Editors July 2013 backlog elimination drive. Three years ago, you participated in our biggest and most successful drive ever and were a huge help, copy editing over 100 articles with over 65,000 words! We've made lots of progress since then, but have stalled out a bit now. We need more help to keep pushing down the number of articles that still need copy editing. The current drive is already halfway over! Please consider joining it and chipping in a few articles. Rollback granted
editHi GaryColemanFan. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. 4 lost US title reigns
editI found 4 errors in the United States title history on wwe.com Firstly, Paul Jones' 2nd reign ended November 28, 1976. That is recognized when clicking on the specific reign. But when clicking at the reign by Blackjack Mulligan, it states December 15. According to every wrestling site, Paul Jones is a 3-time US champ and there was no vacancy or anything to explain the gap between November 28 and December 15, so I think WWE forgot the 2 title changes between Paul and Blackjack. Same thing happened in 1980 with Greg Valentine, where they didn't recognize a 4-month title reign, beginning on July 26, which is the date where Flair lost his title according to wwe.com So in the end, these are 4 missing reigns.
Do you know anything about this? Do you think they forgot to add them? Do you know how to contact them to fix it?WrestlingLegendAS (talk) 11:48, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Pro Wrestling DYKs
editHi Gary. If you're interested, I submitted four pro wrestling articles to Wikipedia:Articles for creation that might make interesting DYKs. I created a DYK page here so it doesn't expire. I think there's a few more interesting hooks (e.g. "Did you know that The Batten Twins were one of the first identical twins to wrestle as a tag team?") but I'll leave that for someone else to decide. 72.74.201.149 (talk) 04:11, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

About WWE Global Warning Melbourne AFD
editHi GCF, and thank you for your message.
- To start off, I'm kind of bonkers almost all of the time (my RfA politely calls this my "unique sense of humor"), so I am quite happy for you (or anyone) to question any of my actions, simply as an editor, and especially as an admin.
- My own personal veiw is that the article met the criteria for speedy deletion under WP:G4, for reasons I set out at the discussion.
- I declined the speedy speedy deletion because that consensus to delete the parent article was some time ago, and its notability may possibly have changed, and I thought it fair to consider it again.
- No-one, either "on-wiki" or "off-wiki", has contacted me about this particular article or its parent article before I started the AfD.
- I've just checked my dedicated wp email account, and no canvassing there, either.
- I do share your concerns that there may be some recent sock-puppetry afoot about Australian pro-wrestling topics. Rather than speculate about it, we should be starting SPIs. I would be happy to use my admin buttons to assist.

editHi Gary,
I appreciate the review for the Stampede Wrestling 50th Anniversary Show at AFC. Would you mind taking a look at Draft:Stu Hart 50th Anniversary Show? I added more sources after the last review but it's been sitting there for over a month and it doesn't look like anyone is interested in reviewing it.
I think it's even more notable than the 2003 show. Alberta Premier Ralph Klein made a public appearance and it was broadcast as a television special in Alberta (there's clips available on YouTube). It was also the first wrestling event to feature a "WCW vs. WWF" dream match during the Monday Night Wars era.
There's not too many Wikipedians who stick up for non-registered contributors so I'm grateful for the assistance. Thanks again. 72.74.211.2 (talk) 21:13, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Can you?
editCan you tell me what I did wrong with that SPI? I am confused, I did everything like I was told and read and did nothing any different then the original SPI which is archived, so I don't understand why it was declined. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" Talk to me 19:19, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Wrongly removed information
editI found out from a highly reliable source that during the 1994 royal rumble that bastion booger had received food poisoning and therefore could not compete. You were wrong to remove that information because it was true so I would be grateful if you could put it back on and if u don't I will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Abi25gail05 (talk) 13:28, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply on my talk page but I received the information from the royal rumble records wikipedia page and also from the official 2016 wwe character information book thing!! Abi25gail05 (talk) 19:40, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

In wrestling
editHi, just wanted to contact those that agree with me about bringing back the In wrestling section of professional wrestlers' pages. I have made a couple of points, regarding what the opposing editors say when they mention adding these moves in the infobox or prose, and would appreciate any feedback or response with those who might be supportive of my points, as I'd like to see if we could bring back this section and create a more complete wrestling encyclopedia for those people that used Wikipedia for that purpose. Thanks, and hope to hear back from you. PRwrestlinganalyst (talk) 13:32, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Advice on first articles?
editHi Gary,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice on a few articles I've submitted to WP:AFC. They definately still need some polishing but I'm still getting the hang of the formatting.
- Draft:List of professional wrestling attendance records
- Draft:Big Time Wrestling (Boston)
- Draft:International Championship Wrestling (Mississippi)
- Draft:World Heavyweight Championship (Montreal version)
- Draft:National Wrestling Conference
- Draft:A Hot Summer Night II
Do you think any of these could become DYK or GA-class articles? I thought Superstars of Wrestling (Canadian TV series) might have some good ones. It was arguably the first wrestling promotion/tv program to use theme music and its feud with Maple Leaf Wrestling ended up in the Canadian Supreme Court.
Also one of the citations was removed as an unreliable source. Does that mean I should avoid citing Vern May (Vance Nevada)? I ask as he doesn't appear on WP:PW's approved sources page.
Thanks. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 16:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

Unreliable Sources
editDoing stuff in the sources section of the wrestling Wikiproject, I came across a discussion you started questioning the unreliable section. It's good to question things. You never proposed any criteria that could be used in determining what sites are unreliable. Some obviously have been deemed as unreliable per the RS noticeboard ala Online World of Wrestling. It's one thing to question things, it's another to only question something without proposing any criteria. I would be all for criteria if necessary. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 10:15, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- The criteria are already found at WP:RS. I don't need to propose new criteria. All I'm saying is that we should determine a site's reliability according to WP:RS. Notes such as "Once reported X, which a different site disproved" have nothing to do with WP:RS. No WikiProject should be writing its own criteria for reliability based on factors like that. It's as simple as the author's credentials, the editorial oversight, and the absence of bias. GaryColemanFan (talk) 00:15, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Moved your response to keep it one spot. I'm all for what your saying. This would reduce the list a bit. But some sources reports being incorrectly attributed to people like Dave Meltzer have refuted by Meltzer. We have to take that into consideration. If we did take sources to the RS noticeboard, how many would be able to discern if any of the sources listed are unreliable? I've seen some say they couldn't based them being a wrestling site. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 01:43, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- If a source was being considered, we would look at what makes the author an expert in the subject matter. If this can be established, the source will probably meet WP:RS or WP:RS/SPS. The wrestling WikiProject has a long history of thinking that they need to make things harder on themselves, almost as if people writing about wrestling should always do so apologetically. In reality, the same criteria are supposed to apply across the board. If someone presents a source about conical cylinders, the biggest consideration would be the expertise of the author in the source. If someone presents a source about the Winnebago Uprising, the same criteria are used. Professional wrestling is no different. GaryColemanFan (talk) 04:56, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Edit on the Royal Rumble wiki page
editWhy did you remove my edit on the Royal Rumble '93 page? What I put is true. The information that was shown on the page was simple incorrect. Saying that Yokozuna had broken a record for most eliminations in 1993 with 7 is simply contrary to the truth. Hulk Hogan eliminated 10 men in 1989. I added sources since you asked for them, including the most reliable source of all, the match itself, which is available on YouTube free of charge. Literally nothing could be a better source than that. Here is another source I've found listing Hogan has having 10 elimination in 1999. This source is actually used on the general Royal Rumble wiki page as well. Also how is the truth redundant? https://web.archive.org/web/20120307063529/http://www.mondaynightwarriors.com/other-royalrumblestats.php — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.191.36.228 (talk) 04:45, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Your submission at ARCA
editI have reverted it because WP:GS/Wrestling is not an ArbCom decision and is ineligible for clarification or amendment at WP:ARCA, which is for ArbCom decisions only. The correct venue for review of community-imposed topic restrictions is WP:VPR, following a notice at WP:AN, per Wikipedia:General sanctions § Community sanctions. It's probably advisable to talk to administrators who are active in enforcement of those restrictions before doing so. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 05:28, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
