Garfield High School
editThe recently added piece on Vern was offensive; thank you for removing it. I also don't think that he is particularly notable as he isn't actually affiliated with the school in any way, merely sometimes tolerated having been kicked off the grounds multiple times.
Rick, however, is more well known than most of the faculty and staff at the school. He, and his interactions with the student body, are a major component of the culture of the school. If you simply believe that no one associated with a high school is notable, well, so be it, but is the existence of mental disability is offensive to you? The section on Rick was factual and objective, if not referenced. (I'm sure I can dig up any references you want for it in past issues of The Messenger.) I don't think it was offensive and assume that most people, especially those that know Rick and even Rick himself, would agree with me. Rick has managed to live independently into early middle age in the face of his disability. It is a part of who he is, not some dirty secret to hide under the rug. I mean, we could say that defining Hellen Keller by her disabilities is offensive as well. We could write an article about al the great work she did and leave out any mention of disability as that would be tarnishing her image.
Finally, what is offensive about what was written about Mr. Warren Anderson, who taught at Garfield for over 20 years and revolutionized the history department making him as notable as a teacher can get aside from the one at the other purple and white Garfield bulldogs. It obviously needs cleaning up, but neither of your reasons for deleting would seem to apply:
- *Anderson - Refers to the beloved former Garfield world history teacher named Warren Anderson. Though he retired in 2004, his name is still often brought up, as he had taught freshman world history at Garfield for many years. He is known for his wit, intelligence, slideshows of his travels around the world, and ability to make students disappointed about having substitute teachers. He taught in the same room (119) for the length of his tenure at Garfield. Room 119 is considered to be hallowed ground by most students who had him as a teacher. ?

- I realize that this came off rather strongly, but I stand by it. I am writing this in hopes that you can help me understand your reasoning. I am not questioning your GF, just not understanding. I don't currently see a reason not to replace (not revert, it could certainly have been written better) the content on Rick and possibly even expand the content on Anderson after more research once my final exams are over and I'm back in Seattle. —WAvegetarian•CONTRIBUTIONSTALK• EMAIL• 07:40, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Journal Communications
editHello. Thank you for your attention to the Journal Communications page. I am curious about one thing, though: Why did you change some state abbreviations so they're spelled out, but not others? I don't really have a preference either way if it's consistent. (For the record, I went with state abbreviations because the Manual of Style doesn't address it, so I deferred to the Associated Press Stylebook.) Thanks for your help as I learn. Dmp348 22:45, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, great job on the article. There wasn't any reason why I left a couple abbreviations there other than the fact that I missed some. I wish I could point to someplace on the WP:MOS where it says that it's common practice to spell out cities, and states, but I can't find anything which specificall says that in regards to cities. If you look around, though, it's very rare to see state abbreviations used, probably just because it takes so much more time to type [[Milwaukee, Wisconsin|Milwaukee, Wis.]] as opposed to [[Milwaukee, Wisconsin]]. It does state here that abbreviations are discouraged unless the abbrevation has been explained earlier in the article. Convention is to state "City, State" the first time, and then to just say "City" from then on.
- Anyhow, it just didn't look right to me, so I spelled out the state names while I was editing the article to add a category and italics to the newspapers. Cheers. --BaronLarf 23:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Sokaogon Mole Lake Chippewa Tribe.
editI came across an article about the Sokaogon Mole Lake Chippewa tribe in Forest County, Wisconsin. To be on the safe side I reduced the article to a stub and added the tribe's website. I think there might had been the possibility of a possible copyright violation. I did not want to take any chances. Finally, many thanks for your work with WikiProject Wisconsin. Thank you-RFD 20:31, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up, and nice work on catching the probably copyvio. I'll start trying to add some more stuff about the tribe after I read more about them. And it's been good to work with you on WP:WPWI too; I was afraid that when I started the group last year that there wouldn't be enough interest to keep it going, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it alive and kicking when I came back from my wikibreak in March. --BaronLarf 16:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Wisconsin page
editHello, I edited the Wisconsin page to describe the Democratic party as being both liberal and progressive, and you reverted my edit. The reason I made the edit is because the portrayal of the Democratic Party as exclusively liberal is incorrect. The Democratic Party is a big tent, and while liberals are a certainly a big part of the party, I believe it to be a mistake to characterize the Democrats as a 'liberal' party, because there are non-liberals to both the right and left within the party organization. In Wisconsin specifically, Tammy Baldwin identifies herself as a progressive rather than a liberal. Perhaps we could find a way of describing the parties that accurately reflects their big tent natures but does not unwittingly draw parallels with the defunct Progressive Party or is otherwise misleading? aliceinlampyland 21:55, 19 May 2006 (UTC).
- By all means, do it in the politics section. But everything that you say there seems to me to be a bit much all in the introductory paragraph. Cheers --BaronLarf 01:02, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- I had removed the misleading 'liberal' and 'conservative' qualifiers in the introduction, but they had been reverted. aliceinlampyland 12:41, 20 May 2006 (UTC).

editSeriously, if this is a single person, he or she should definitetly be blocked. However, since there is a scattering of helpful contributions in the vandalism, I would guess that this is a public computer at a school, maybe Pius, since it is mentioned in one of their edits. If so, it would be a good idea to mark that it is as such, but I don't know how to do that. BirdValiant 00:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I wasn't sure the refs would work correctly since one of them is in the extlinks section. I'm working on a rather less thorough Rock Falls, Dunn County, Wisconsin that you might wanna look in on in a few minutes. :-) Tomertalk 06:02, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Looks good. :^) I'm really going to have to get chopping on unincorporated areas in the Milwaukee area... you're putting me to shame up in the northwest. --BaronLarf 13:44, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Heya... I wrote Rock Falls, Dunn County, Wisconsin (as you're well aware), but there's already an unrelated Town of Rock Falls, Wisconsin in Lincoln County. Should we move the contents of Rock Falls, Wisconsin to Rock Falls, Lincoln County, Wisconsin and make Rock Falls, Wisconsin a {{geodis}}? Tomertalk 21:32, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting... should towns have precedence over unincorporated areas, or should they been seen as equal and have a common disambig page? I don't know. If I state an opinion now, I'm sure that someone would change it for me and I'd just add confusion. I'll defer to whatever decision you made. --BaronLarf 14:25, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Augustine Francis Schinner
editHi! I notice you wrote about Augustine Francis Schinner, the first Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Superior, on the Superior Diocese article. I decided to start an article about Bishop Schinner. One note: the computer I used as home does not have:| There fore, I have to use the public library computer since they have:| and mine does not. So, I can not always bet to the library computer to do categories about famous people. Enjoy your trip to Europe. Many thanks!RFD 18:55, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey BaronLarf
editA much-belated welcome back! I see that you are on a travelling wikibreak right now; looks like I just missed you again! I am doing just fine, although busy. Caring for a family member, added to normal work/school responsibilites, required a somewhat abrupt wikibreak. But, I plan on now being back. I'll check out the Wisconsin updates and catch up on what's new. Great to see you are back at the Wiki. HollyAm 02:24, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Musicals
editHi! I'm leaving you this message because your name is listed as a past participant in WikiProject Musicals (previously WikiProject Broadway). While the project has laid dormant for quite awhile, it has recently taken your year-old suggestion of focusing on a more generalized approach. I would like to work toward getting it up and operative. I have a few ideas that I've outlined on the talk page, and would love your input. Working together, I think we can signifigantly improve the quality of the articles relating to musicals on Wikipedia. — MusicMaker 06:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

the opera houses v. list of houses page
editThanks for your comments. I've copied this over in case you didn't see it.. Vivaverdi 23:56, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Clean up
editI've tried to clean up the list in this article so that only opera houses are listed, not opera companies. A List of opera companies should cover the companies themselves, which I will create in the next week (if someone else doesn't beat me to it). Also, I can invision this article being moved to List of opera houses, with "Opera house" devoted to a discussion of opera houses themselves, their history and acoustics, etc. Cheers. --BaronLarf 20:41, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
- Increaingly, I've come to the conclusion that the only way to have all the opera houses in some sort of list (since people remove individual houses and put them in the country list) is to change this to List of opera houses.
- There is a List of important opera companies (60 regarded as significnt, so don't believe that we need another one), but I think you're right in suggesting that Opera house could be it's own article.
Requests for Pipe & Johnsburg
editI noticed your request for articles on both places. I live just minutes from both. I can EASILY get an image of both. I'm wondering what sources I could use for creating an article. Do you have any generic sources on places in Wisconsin? Pipe has been especially elusive.
I wonder if there should be an article on a region of Fond du Lac county called "The Holyland". Both Johnsburg and Pipe are just outside the region. Almost every little unincorporated village is named after something religious: Jericho (2 miles from me), Marytown (also 3 miles from me), St. Joe, St. Peter, Mount Calvary, St. Cloud, etc. Thousands of my Catholic distant cousins live there. Probably too regional/local to be notable. --Royalbroil 02:55, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- When places are not incorporated, there really isn't one source that I get my information from. Since you live nearby, I'd suggest the Local History section of your local library. That's helped me in the past. Cheers --14:25, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Great idea. Thanks! --Royalbroil 05:22, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kent-Meridian High School, I just thought you'd like to know that the consensus for deleting High School articles now appears to be swinging back in favor of deletion. So this may indicate the beginning of another campaign to remove most High School articles. Your opinion on the AfD article would be appreciated. It might be helpful if a notability standard for High Schools could be agreed upon. Thank you. — RJH (talk) 16:36, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Wisconsin template
editI must have forgot to add the template to a few articles. I definitely missed it on Hilbert. I routinely add the template to the talk pages. I've been trained well in WikiProject NASCAR. To error is human. I am curious about the indexing. Please explain the part about routinely adding the articles further. Thanks! --Royalbroil 05:25, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, no problem. Every week or so a couple of us (usually HollyAm or myself, I think) update the WP:WPWI recent change list by add them by pasting the results into a spreadsheet of the output from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Recentchangeslinked/Template:WikiProject_Wisconsin . We remove the "talk:" prefixes, and paste wikilinks of the articles, categories, images and templates into Wikipedia:WikiProject Wisconsin/Wisconsin recent changes. --BaronLarf 01:46, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
I have been manually adding articles to the WP:WPWI Recent Changes template like we do at WikiProject NASCAR. Are these changes manually added to the spreadsheet? Should I only be adding the WP:WPWI tag to the talk page instead? --Royalbroil 23:41, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Either way works. If you only add the tag to the talk page, the page just won't show up on the recent changes lists until someone manually updates it. --BaronLarf 00:35, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Towns of Calumet County, Wisconsin
editI noticed on my watchlist that you moved the Brothertown, Calumet County, Wisconsin article to Brothertown, Wisconsin. I notice that there are several other towns in Calumet County should get moved. I can do the task. I'm curious about what's the current naming convention for townships in Wisconsin.
I also noticed that you abbreviated the wording and moved around images that I took. I'm cool with that. I ran across an article last night that talked about how to arrange images to lessen conflicts with different monitor display resolutions. I found it somewhere under WP:IMAGE. --Royalbroil 23:12, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Royalbroil. I was going systematically through all municipalities in Wisconsin by county, alphabetically, to add the {{WikiProject Wisconsin}} template to their talk pages. When I come across a page that needs improvement, I do a bit of touch up.
- The naming convention for municipalities is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wisconsin/Cities#Naming conventions. Basically, it just states that the name of an article for Footown, Foo County, Wisconsin should be Footown, Wisconsin, unless there's another place with that same name. There's lots of articles with Footown, Foo County, Wisconsin where that county name just isn't necessary. The articles were mostly created by bots, so it takes a bit of work to have everything make sense. When there's a city and a town next to each other with the same name (like the City of Cedarburg and the Town of Cedarburg, the city gets Cedarburg, Wisconsin and the town gets Cedarburg (town), Wisconsin. Villages are treated like cities in this way.
- Now, if there are two completely unrelated towns in separate counties, that's when something like Harrison, Calumet County, Wisconsin and Harrison, Waupaca County, Wisconsin becomes necessary.
- With the images, I was just trying to standardize using my own judgment; WP:PIC shows that images should usually not be made to be larger than 300 pixels, with the norm being 180. If you want to resize thumbnails to show on your computer at a different size, you can do this under the "files" tab at Special:Preferences. There's a good guide for captions at Wikipedia:Captions; I was aiming for more brevity. Thanks for your comments. --BaronLarf 00:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
WP:PIC is the article that I was talking about. Thanks for citing the naming conventions. Sounds like a reasonable policy to me. Good job in cleaning up the bots' work. You used good judgement with the images that I looked at. I'll let you do the articles for Calumet County since you have everything under control. I'm trying to improve Wikipedia's articles for my part of the state since there aren't many wikipedians here. My cousin, Bdman, was been helping a bit too. Please don't ask him to join, for I doubt he plans to join this Wikiproject, but he is a friend of the project.
I have been to all 72 counties in Wisconsin during my vacations. I'll keep my eyes open for photo opportunities when I'm on vacation. I'll look over the Images needed in Wisconsin category before I leave for a few day long trip to Sturgeon Bay in Door County in around a month.
I have been doing a Wisconsin racetrack tour this summer. I've been to 11 tracks: Chilton (2 tracks), Plymouth, Columbus, Madison, Manitowoc, Luxemburg, Kaukauna (stockcar and drag tracks), Shawano, and Oshkosh. I hope to get to 5 more yet (Sturgeon Bay, Antigo, Francis Creek, Beaver Dam, Seymour, and Slinger). The track needs to be within 2 hours of my home. I've been taking pictures of the county fairgrounds where the tracks are located at, and I'll upload them to the county's article later when I have more time. I've also taken some pictures of the cities that I've passed through. I've been uploading a picture of a car from each division to a flickr account. There are links on my user page. --Royalbroil 00:56, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

En-dashes in LoPbN Vital Stats
edit_ _ I'm reverting your 4 edits of the 16th, even tho in their diffident and bumbling way, the MOS page you cite and the Dash page it cites (and their talk pages) do support your contention more than mine. I'm not persuaded that the guideline represents more than the consensus of a few pedants caring more about it than more better grounded users. For instance, the 30 years' experience of a professional writer i consulted includes knowing how to generate dashes in MS Word but does not suggest doing so for this usage. And in any case, i'm pretty sure the difference is not worth changing 10s of thousands of entries. But that's not the real issue here.
_ _ Perhaps you have a bot that could do the conversion to the hundreds of LoPbN pages in one fell swoop, and can use it in an ongoing fashion to maintain the en-dashes (unspaced, i trust) against their erosion by the many LoPbN contributors who are so clueless about the surrounding entries as to even enter unlinked names or create red links like Newton, Isaac; i will not squawk at your doing so. But changing over page by page is simply a recipe for sowing confusion, and i will continue to resist page-by-page conversion away from the largely uncontested and predominant de-facto standard.
_ _ Even if you do manage a quick LoPbN-global changeover, i predict it will be a maintenance headache, and if i find the new inevitable hyphens (or em-spaces or worse) are not regularly cleaned up (which i predict will only occur if a bot is regularly used), i will ask myself that a bot driver act: to either take on the regular task, or convert the en-spaces back to the much more natural and more hand-maintainable hyphens.
_ _ Thanks for the citation with your edits.

Frozen Custard Edit Reversion
editBaronLarf, please see the talk page for frozen custard for the justification for my edits--I really don't think the article is helped by naming prominent custard places in Milwaukee, or that a stand in Northern Virginia happens to be named "Milwaukee's Frozen Custard". I don't think it's encyclopedic, and a lot of the edited material served simply to advertise specific franchises. As noted on the talk page, if you feel some of the material can be re-written and added back in, then that is an acceptable compromise, but the removed material, as written, does not seem suitable for a Wikipedia article. My apologies if I violated Wikipedia etiquette or procedure in my initial edit.70.171.5.85 04:51, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted your edits because you removed a good deal of material without providing a edit summary. I suggest using them; it really only takes a minute. --BaronLarf 04:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
I notice you switched the cat from Milwaukee to Racine. I'm not absolutely certain, but I think he lives in Milwaukee. The recording studio that he owns is there, anyway. Not that I'm complaining - I'm just saying it may not be accurate to remove the one cat. Could easily have both. -Freekee 04:31, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I put him in that cat because he was born in Racine. If you disagree and believe that he is strongly identified with the city of Milwaukee, I have no problem with him being in both. Cheers --BaronLarf 04:48, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
I suspected that the text has been copied from somewhere, but I wasn't able to verify it using a Google search. Where does it come from? (I don't think it is a good idea to redirect the articles to Apostle Islands, since this adds false blue links to the article. It would be preferable to create a short stub, or to let the copyvio process to go through.) Regards, Mike Rosoft 19:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- I can't tell where User:Joseph Rawson got his information, but it's obviously a copyvio, though it does not appear in a simple Google search. In his edit of Devils Island, for example, there a reference to "Fig. 15", as if he cut and pasted it from a scholarly text with figures and tables. Take a look at his contributions; nine insertions of text from the same text about the Apostle Islands.
- You're right about the simple redirects though; I'll go through and make stubs out of them. --BaronLarf 19:31, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Terese Berceau
editMr. BaronLarf While I duly appreciate the fact that you are an editor of sorts for Wikipedia, I can't help but hold the opinion that a prerequisite of such work, particularly before commencing in earnest upon the "improvement" any legislator's entry, is that you actually hold the merest of acquaintances with proper English spelling. For example, "Berceau" is not spelled "Burceau" as your improvement would have it. Moreover, "resident" is not spelled "recident" as per your correction. Neither is "science" spelled "sciene." Deleting the photo of the representive is inexplicable.
- Thanks for your constructive criticism. You spell checking is appreciated. The original article you created was not written in from a neutral point of view, thus my rewrite. The picture was a copyright violation. For more information, I'd suggest reading Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Images etc. Say hi to Terese for me. --BaronLarf 19:16, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Dear Mr. BaronLarf,
The photo, to which to refer, is most definitely not a copyright infringment. I would know of such things, as it was taken by one, Brent Nicastro, photographer for the Democratic caucus of the Wisconsin State Legislature. We have his unreserved permission to use the image in whatever way we choose. If you desire further evidence to the fact, we would be happy to provide it. Do you have evidence otherwise? I would ask that you please restore it to the entry. It adds a nice touch.
While I could argue that nothing in our original entry was lacking in neutrality -- to which I can only assume that you mean non-partisan -- I fear that such a discussion would not bear fruit -- and so, I can live with those edits.
Oh, and I'll say "hi" to Terese for you, whoever you are.
- The burden of proof for the copyright status belongs to the person uploading the image. Simply stating that you have his permission is not enough. Please read Wikipedia:Example requests for permission for what needs to be done in order for the image to be used. Cheers --BaronLarf 19:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

- Yeah! That'd be a great addition! Even though it is in the next county. ;^) If memory serves, I think there's something about it at ::the University of Wisconsin-Platteville article; but it hurts me to try to read that thing.
Read what? the M? I'd say that it might be hard to miss (lol) (Thought I'd throw that in) Was there somthing about the article? --master_sonLets talk 00:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

editThat picture is mine, I took it with my cell phone the same day I also added a couple of images to the main Sheboygan, Wisconsin article along with a sign example of the 8th Street rotary to traffic circle. It probably doesn't fit the general article I agree, but I did take it myself and meant to release all rights to it. Nate 10:07, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Oil City, Wisconsin
editHi! I made a change in the Oil City, Wisconsin article by wikified Sheldon, Monroe County, Wisconsin. The change got reverse. There is a mixup about towns and townships. According to the 'Wisconsin Atlas & Gazetter' Oil City, Wisconsin is in the town of Sheldon in Monroe County, Wisconsin. I could revert the change, but going through an edit war is not worth it. WI double-stubbing
editThanks for pointing that out: I can and will re-run the 'bot to remove the redundant stub type. I sometimes do so in advance when I'm aware of a large amount of double-stubbing, but in this case I hadn't noticed it. Alai 01:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Superior Falls and Big Manitou Falls
editI've recently added a couple of articles Superior Falls and Big Manitou Falls, respectively. These are my first articles on wikipedia and I am not entirely comfortable with the content. I am curious if you could review these articles for me and if they meet the wikipedia standards, could they be a part of Wikiproject Wisconsin? Thank you. Emilynothing 12:30, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I am curious if there is a category for Waterfalls in Wisconsin or something along those lines...that i could add these to? I couldn't find one...maybe there aren't enough articles about waterfalls in wisconsin out there? Thanks Emilynothing 19:48, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

editWhy did you remove the section on nicknames and history? The nicknames might be justified, but the history was certainly notable. Tom Danson 04:21, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Category:Images in Wisconsin
editFYI: This category can only include FREE (read Creative Commons or Public Domain) use images, not ones like the Barron county seal that you added. I removed the image from the category. Cheers! Royalbroil 04:27, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I had forgotten about that. Seems like a silly name for such a specific category... one would think that "Images of Wisconsin" would be a category for all images, with "Public domain images of Wisconsin" being a subcategory or something. Has to be a better way...---BaronLarf 04:08, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I need help with a personal attack against me
editUser:SqueakBox doesn't like me. He has insulted me in the past and, recently, he was blocked for posting the following insult in his user page: "My greatest achievements here [...] have been [...] and restoring José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero from the POV of another user who claims to write about saints." (See the entry for August 21 in his block log) My nick, Hagiographer means just that, "to write about saints", so it's clear that comment is a direct attack against me. Furthermore, when I came to the article about Zapatero SqueakBox had already been banned from editing Zapatero's editing articles by the Arbitraton Committee (what can he restore?). And, in fact, I've never contributed or deleted information from any of those articles. I simply reverted some vandalism SqueakBox introduced as part of his harassment campaing against other user who was also banned by the same Arbitration Comittee decision. So, that paragraph is pure slander.
Taking WP:NPA into account, I believe that paragraph should be deleted or, at least, marked like what it is, a personal attack. I did just that [3]. However, SqueakBox removed it and User:Guettarda protected the page here. SqueakBox has had a lot of problems with other users and, sometimes, Guettarda has taken part in them. For example, in User:SqueakBox can be found a barnstar given by User:Guettarda in which he says that SqueakBox has gone beyond the call of duty in his fight against "strange" people in the article Javier Solana. WP:NPA states clearly that comments must be about content not users so it's clear that Guettarda and SqueakBox have cooperated in, at least, dubious actions against other users. It's also clear Guettarda is biased in favor of SqueakBox. In this edit in my talk page, he implies that I like looking for conflict, that I'm obsessed with SqueakBox that I've to settle down and so on, all violation of WP:AGF and unpleasant remarks.
It mustn't be forgotten that according to WP:OWN, user pages belong to everybody and I don't believe a wikipedian has any right to transform his user page in a platform to attack other users. So Guettarda's supposed protection of SqueakBox's user page (really of SqueakBox's insults) is very difficult to defend in my opinion.
I'm simply asking fair treatment. I don't believe I have to see how the Wikipedia is populated with insults against me. I believe SqueakBox can contribute useful edits without transforming his user page into a gallery of attacks. So please, either unprotect the page so WP:OWN can be applied, or remove the negative comment or mark it as a personal attack untolerable in the Wikipedia or, at least, explain to me why I have to bear that kind of treatment. SqueakBox has been blocked for that unpleasant remark, What is the use of blocking him and then keeping the insult? Thank you. Hagiographer 07:56, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
There has been a new wave of "Karl Vandalism" at the page. Please block the IPs that are doing it.

Image:Scott Walker (Wisconsin).jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Scott Walker (Wisconsin).jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 01:29, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi. on the above image you only state "Picture was property of uploader" as the source. Does this mean that you took the image or that you own a booklet with the image on it? Cheers /Lokal_Profil 14:26, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm responsible for the image. It was taken with my camera, and I'm in it. --BaronLarf 18:33, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
- The important question for copyright is however if you took the image... if not then the photographer needs to give a written permission stating that the image is released as GFDL. /Lokal_Profil 19:29, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

==Image source problem with Image:Awhs.gif==
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Awhs.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Albany (village), Wisconsin page nominated for deletion
editA tag has been placed on Albany (village), Wisconsin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Wayne Stemple (talk) 03:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

editThanks for uploading Image:GranvilleLogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:55, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Why Do I continuously get blocked for telling the truth?
editHey Baron, I am trying to edit a page about Courtney Love and have been given a warning about it. None of what I am trying to add is personal opinion, why do you insist on propagating lies? I just want to make the article a little less specific, considering their is no proof of truth regarding what is ACTUALLY published on WIKI. How do I do this the right way? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.143.189.190 (talk) 17:22, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:F._Ryan_Duffy.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:F._Ryan_Duffy.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 08:54, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed your adding Aldo Leopold Shack and Farm as a red-link item to the List of NHLs in WI. Because I believe it is not a National Historic Landmark and have reason to believe the current list is complete, I removed it from there to discuss at the Talk page. I was able to quickly verify that the place is a legitimate historic site, and I created a stub article for it. In fact it is among the National Register of Historic Places listings in Sauk County, Wisconsin. So i think it is listed on the National Register but not further designated a NHL. Do you have anything to add to the article? Perhaps if you visited there you might have pics, which would be great to get. Anyhow, please feel free to add to the article and/or comment at its Talk page. I'll watch here briefly for any further comments here, too. Cheers, doncram (talk) 00:34, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- I've responded on the talk page. --BaronLarf 18:46, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- I alerted NRHPers in other states, too, via Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#Nine new NHLs. Thanks! doncram (talk) 19:43, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Johnsoncontrols.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Johnsoncontrols.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
